where are the old vinyl junkies?
I was having a drink in Shibuya last night. There's a sign near Cisco that says "Fuck PC -- real DJ's use vinyl". Which was funny as I was drinking from a little bar connected to a CD-only DJ shop.

Never seen so many gaijin in one place though, including Roppongi.
I went for a jog yesterday. Indeed, there was a highly concentrated whitey population.

are there any flea markets in Tokyo? In Germany we have a lot of flea markets (so called Flohmarkt) where you can buy second hand stuff from private persons. I made some good deals on flea markets in the past. How's it in Japan?

Akihabara, if you want second hand game stuff you can spend your entire budget in a few hours.

I had more fun just getting off at random stops on the train and walking around. I didn't really go to see XYZ I just wanted to "do" Japan not as a tourist.

After a few drinks and plucking up the courage to speak Japanese I found some awesome pubs and clubs just by talking to people rather than using guides. Club Unit in Ebisu (I love Ebisu) was one such find, I walked for ages at about 3:00am on my own looking for somewhere to go other than all the fucking champagne bars, and some guy said "oh yeah there's some club I think over there" and it was fucking awesome, met some mental people and the DJ's that night were from Bristol which is around the corner from me.

Seriously though, don't just plan day one for here, day two there, etc, just decide when you are there. I didn't see half of what I planned, but what I experienced was miles better.

Actually I have only planned half of the days I stay in Japan. I would like to plan for all days because I don't want to waste time. I think I will never have the money to travel to Japan again.

However it could be interesting to experience Japan without any plan. I really would like to pick up a mountain bike and travel around just for one day.

You won't find many mountain bikes short of in the sticks, in Japan they still use old 1950's (girl frame) style bikes. All the hire bikes especially.

Get a mountain bike and ride on the street. That's what I do. It's a very easy city for cycling if you can live w/ the exhaust.
