    Hello Alan

We thought that you might be interested in FREE
tickets for a brand new sitcom from the makers of
The IT Crowd, at the BBC TV Studios, White City.

    ARCADIA

Arcadia is a youthful sitcom set in the real
world around Clacton's finest computer games shop
Games 4 U with a cast of characters whose minds
    are somewhere else entirelyS

The shop is in financial trouble and
    ever-so-slightly neurotic manager Tony (Edinburgh
Fringe Award winner Nick Mohammed) is doing his
best to keep things afloat, ably assisted by Mr
Sci-Fi convention himself, Jeremy Stokes (Matt
Green), and the attractive, though unobtainable,
    Bella.

Tony believes he can design games better than the
ones he sells; the problem is all his ideas are
rubbish. Jeremy has played and completed every
computer game ever released while still managing
to have a surprising amount of luck with the
ladies. This is all the more remarkable
considering Jeremy regularly arrives for work
dressed as gaming characters no one else has
heard of. Bella is the gorgeous level-headed
young assistant and the apple of Tony's eye but
unfortunately she is more interested in the
mysterious hacker Clint who masquerades as an
asexual-cyber-terrorist but is in fact a nice
middle-class boy who still lives at home with his
    mum.

Meh, IT crowd was average, a good joke sometimes but it still doesnt portrays the real geek enviroment.

This sitcom seems like it was created by a middle aged hipster inspired by the store where his kid buys every GTA that comes out.

Obviously the fat guy with a pony tail and acne that owns the place isnt funny becos he's always pissed and has no friends, so the creator adds a wise guy and a hot girl, which both are impossible since in real life the wise guy stays in college and the hot girl only likes guys who have at least a bimmer.

I say trying to make a geek sitcom is a dead end, mostly becos the sitcom modus operandi is uncompatible with geek humor, which is based on random stuff, lots of swearing, good acting (something that sitcoms all over the world lack) and last, jokes that force you to seach for said stuff in the 'net in order to understand them.

Ergo, geek humor will never get into the mainstream without losing its pure raw form.

Yeah the Big Bang Theory seems to have hit the nail on the head.

They don't hold back on the geek humour and yet it remains funny for the masses. Very enjoyable, pity it seems to have been stunted by the writes strike.

Don't worry. It's back on March 17th (In USA it is). That would be the 9th episode, and the first season seem to be contracted to 22 episodes. Plus i read somewhere, they already signed for a 2nd season.

Well, I've put my request for tickets in - if it does come through, all of us attending forum residents should try and meet up (or near Londoners).

Or do you think it's a bad idea?
