    PS3 Linux

    Hey All,

I'm looking to put some sort of linux distro on my ps3 this long weekend. And i was wondering if some of you could help me out in choosing the right distro.

I've seen yellowdog, which looks nice (though its a large iso to download) i've heard reports that it doesn't like sdtv's much (i have a 15 inch polaroid lcd) though

PSUbuntu looks nice too, though gnome looks to be quite a hog, and is somewhat slow.

Has anyone else used any other distros on their ps3's? I'm looking for something somewhat light-weight, with fluxbox or xfce

    Any recomendations?

P.S. Also, anyone know of a good site that could help me with my inquires (there seems to be a lack of ps3 linux communities)

If you want Ubuntu but dont want GNOME, try Xubuntu with Xfce its very small and lightweight and would be ideal for PS3.

You could do what I did (as explained in the other thread): install PSUbuntu, then apt-get install Fluxbox and set GDM to use Flux as the default "session".

PSUbuntu seems to have a decent-sized community - you can find their forum here: http://psubuntu.com/forum/

right, aside from some issues, PSUbuntu is working.

Installed no problems, though my main concerns now are the resolution and wifi. I followed the instructions on how to set the resolution, the first time through i set it temporarely, and it seemed to change nothing. each consecutive time, it seems to crash, and i have to restart, so right now im stuck with a fairly large border around my 15" lcd (480p i think)

    any comments?

How were you changing the resolution? Did you change the settings in the xorg.conf?
