Animal Forest/Crossing (N64/GCN) vs Animal Crossing WW (DS)

Time for another classics vs thread.

So what did people here prefer more, Animal Forest/Crossing for the N64/Gamecube or Animal Crossing Wild World for DS?

Me personaly I prefer the n64/gcn (almost identical) version the most. I really dispise the rotating world view the DS version uses. Makes it feel like you really can't see much. Second DS version sucked for having no Nes games. That was one of the most awsome things about the previous version. All of a sudden finaly finding a new nes game game to play, running back to your little house and playing the crap out of it for an hour.

Yeah, the NES games did make the first game very enjoyable, and gave a base for future emulators. Personally, I like the GCN version more for the holidays and general layout. New version felt like it took some stuff out and made the online next to impossible due to how anal Nintendo is about friends codes.

The only bits of the ds version i liked were the extra hair salon in nooks store as it allowed for a bit of character customization, online was fun when you got someone to visit. Shame its such a pain to do.

The gamecube version wins hands down, i like the festivals as it makes playing a lot more fun, the ds version had the crappest festivals ever all looked the same & all boring to do. It had famicom games which were always an incentive to keep playing & in the E+ version you could add features to your town like a giant yoshi egg, or a helipad & lots of others.

I hope the wii version goes back like the gamecube ones but adds online & lets you play your vc stuff in your house.

GameCube all the way, just the "world wrapped around a barrel" thing was enough to put me off.

the Dobotsu Nomori+ , the japanese version supporting the SD adaptor, is the best out of the lot. Even the N64 version was better than the DS version, despite having to enter the time and date manually every time:p

one of the reasons I got the game was of course the NES games :)

My N64 Animal Forest keep the date & time perfecly there is a clock inside the cartridge for that purpose....

Does anyone still play regularly?, i love the E+ feature where you can use the ds card adapter to send a copy of your town to it & then email it to a friend. Plus so easy to take pics as well. I prefered the mix of famicom games in the + version but the extras in E+ make up for it.

Playing the N64 version is pretty strange but its nice to see the old features like when you drop items outside they turn into boxes instead of leaves.

I really really really really REALLY want to play the Gamecube version again, but I'm afraid of lessening the experience for when the planned Wii version comes out. I haven't played Animal Crossing in a few years, so continuing to do so would keep the series as new as possible in my mind.

I haven't played Wild World, but I don't think I'd want to considering what people say about it. The lack of NES games doesn't really bother me -- I'm just set ON the experience that was the GC version.

The map view, fishing mechanics and lack of separate houses for each player in the DS version really put me off. I haven't had the opportunity to play the N64 version, but the Cube version is very enjoyable.
