I was sure there was a ready-made NTSC patch for the game, but I can't find it anymore. There is a patch that will allow you to circumvent the "This game is not designed to be played on this system" message when booting on a console, here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/539/

Didn't realize the Everdrive is so blasted picky. Just eliminating the PAL region test is enough to get it to work NTSC on all the older dev devices. The music popping would require reformatting from everything I've read (PAL and NTSC are recorded and replayed at different rates), but maybe somebody knows better than I do.
