Thread: N64 40 Winks dumped and released

  1. #101
Bramsworth, Vague Rant, check the first post. i'm the one who dumped the game. and the pics from above are not taken by me. i never take pictures from one side. i know for sure it's the same cart because of the scratches and marker writing.

Odd, I swear I remember no one knowing who dumped it. Ah well. Shoulda looked at the first post again, but I thought who dumped it was part of the debate heh.

black sheep, thanks for the scan. Although I'm sure this never got released (unless someone out there is hoarding every single retail cartridge), it clearly came tantalisingly close to coming out. That scan is great. Maybe I'm missing something, but did you upload shots of some of the other pages? (such as the retail listing, that'd be interesting)

    Cheers,
    Franklint

Oh yeah? Any chance you could get some scans uploaded? They would be very interesting to see, for me at least.

    Hello there,

Is there any chance I could get this from someone? The link has been 404'd for quite some time.

    Thanks,

    Tony

My category of stupid includes people who type in all caps. So you are probably right.

Also, thanks for the updated link bobzee, was about to put one up too.

I wonder if I had any search limitations on because for the life of me all I found were 404'd links. Thanks again.

btw is this rom written in one of the variation of pal 50h hertz or pal 60 . basically will i need a av adapter or will it not be black and white and rolling ?
    (disgruntled drunken signature insert here)

I am having trouble getting the 40 winks rom to work on my everdrive 64. It palys but it is in black and white. I tried to download the n64 rom renamer to fix it but te renamer said it was missing files. I tried to fix it with no luck. Can anyone help? Is there a direct link for a 40 winks (U) rom? or just any 40 winks n64 rom thats prepatched that will properly play in an everdrive? Please help, i desperately want to check this out, thanks.

Hmm, the ROM Renamer worked for me. I followed exactly what Wiggly said in the Everdrive 64 Game Fix thread, if you didn't try that already:

First, use the header editor (under 'Tools') to change the game's country to an NTSC country (I used E; "USA NTSC", but I guess A; "USA & Japan NTSC", or J; Japan NTSC would work just as well). Save the changes. Incidentally, if you try and boot this ROM it now is in colour, but displays the "This game can not be played on this system" message.

Patch this version of the ROM with Zoinkity IPS hack (Link : http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/539/). I used this IPS patcher utility, IPS XP 111 (link : http://www.romhacking.net/utils/13/)

The patched version will now run, on an NTSC N64 and NTSC ED64, in full colour. Sound is a little crackly in places (e.g. popping sounds in the first curscene), similar to a PAL system running an NTSC ROM, but otherwise, it's all good stuff.

Sweet, I had this issue of NOM as well :), doubt it's still kicking around my parents' place though.

I'm pretty sure I kept buying NOM for at least a little while afterwards too, yet have no memory of a review ever materialising but there we are.
