Thread: N64 40 Winks dumped and released

  1. #61
Semi-unrelated: does anybody know if the finished Twelve Tales: Conker 64 prototype has been dumped?

I've played Earth Bound, I've played Starfox 2...maybe some more of that pent-up rage I've had against Nintendo and Rare will dissipate once I've played my beloved Twelve Tales as well. (And if I am indeed a real-life Haruhi Suzumiya as I've sometimes suspected, maybe Rare's long-standing curse of mediocrity will be broken as well. XD)

All they would need is ten nuclear weapons in the kiloton range, disguised as Girl Scouts.

Because no one has provided solid evidence that it was released in limited quantities. Memories are great, but can be flawed :P A single picture of a cart or box or manual would go a long way

Thank you very much for the release.

I hope I can play it on anyone emulator

Borman: How often do gaming publishers release an unfinished game?
On your site you state that 40 Winks is an
    unfinished Nintendo 64 game
    .
So, all I want to know is did you dump the U.S. version?
Why is the [un]released us version so elusive?

    Great site though :)

Eh probably worded that wrong, unreleased would be better, as it could have been finished. Someone else dumped it :)

Awesome to see dumps still coming out! I'm so envious of the person who gets to keep the cart.

This revitalizes my searching for Twelve Tales: Conker 64

the game saw a limited release, hence a dump 's much more probable than a game that was never released.

The game had never reached the stores. And nobody can prove the contrary.

eye-witness reports of a sales person not good enough for you?

and even if it wasn't that, I know damn well I ve played it myself.

Memories are flawed unfortunately, I remember seeing Knuckles in the stock Sonic 3 for the first bootup, and nothing more, but Id wager my memory being flawed. Even with a limited release, it cant be that hard for someone to show even a picture of a cart, let alone a box or manual.

    Hi gorgyrip,

Great dump! So awesome to be able to play 40 Winks and know that it's the N64 version. I haven't played the PSX one, and PSX never did much for me anyway.

Just a few questions. Firstly, are you a Nintendo 64 collector, or did you come upon the cartridge by chance? How did you get hold of it, and how much did it cost? Of course, if any of these questions are personal or you'd prefer me to discuss them in a PM, please let me know.

I agree that box/cart/manual shots should be gettable if the game was released, which I doubt.

    Thanks again for the dump.

    Cheers,
    Franklint

Simply amazing, thanks a ton. I will give this a go tonight. The whole aspect of an un-released game intrigues me to no end.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many of these prototype carts there actually are in existence? gorgyrip mentioned in a PM that other collectors hadn't wanted the cart he ended up with, because it had a torn label or similar. Are there others with intact labels? Are they still in PAL format?

EDIT: Whoops, it was my own poor reading that made me think more copies existed. After looking over the PM, it's clear that gorgyrip meant that the proto was sold with a slew of other, normal, retail carts, and was therefore the only one without a sticker. Disregard all that I've said  .

    Cheers,
    Franklint

Spoondiddly at the Dextrose forums has been kind enough to release a crack for this game, letting it run on all regions.

Here is the IPS patching tool you'll need -

I've confirmed this works. I'm playing it with the Sn64 cart right now. Should work with any 256mbit backup unit
