Either way as tempting as it is it's pointless speculating, anything's a possibility when you have such little information to go on.

I don't think they're modding the final RE2, it looks more like a hack of a RE 1.5 build.
I'm really intrigued about this, Where are those screenshots coming from? Is it from the same Facebook group that posted the other pics? This is awesome, even if we don't get the game, it's great that there are more copies outside of CAPCOM.
but in this version you can get a script for Elsa?

I was referring to other parts of the menu/item screen that looked out of place. Since the misaligned texture around the screw was seen before, I guess that just leaves the odd blue bleed through and the license as odd. At this point, I can't tell if it's just a hack or someone is expanding on an incomplete build, but it's still interesting nonetheless.
other people have reverse engineered the various formats used by the PSX and Biohazard games in particular, for example an excellent model viewer for the Original Biohazard / Resident Evil that gives you perfect renders of the characters, enemies etc. also others have changed the layouts of rooms and altered how the characters interact with objects and their surroundings, its most likely that they are hacking the Biohazard prototype that they have using alot of the skills people have learnt with hacking the other games in series, alot of the information is out their to find and quite well documented in parts.
is it possible that the prototype just doesn't allow you to pass certain points or has untextured or unpassable rooms? remember game development is complex and doesn't necessarily mean you do room A, then B then C etc. alot of times early and later parts of the games can be finished earlier on and its the middle parts that have alot of change during development, also the reverse can also be true, guess we will have to see what parts they patched up
loving the screenshots and its great to see more information about this game, will almost be a shame if this is all true as it will end alot of the speculation and chat that has gone on over the years, however it will also invite a whole lot more so thats also good
RE2 is fairly well documented and I'd say it's highly likely that it'd be EASIER to turn RE2 into 1.5, than to "finish/fix" an incomplete build of something else.
(ZOMG! The ultimate troll! Maybe they are turning RE1.5 into RE2!)
C'mon! Can't you tell by the pixels? ;D
Sorry, we don't understand Google translator.
Oh god why...

I would like to talk about the released pictures: Some of them seem absolutely legit, even the smallest details in the textures of the cg backgrounds match those of older shots from magazines that were not digitally captured with an emulator. Others however, well, just seem to use some fanmade characters running on the PC version using backdrops of 1.5. I somehow get the feeling that someone has the game and made some direct screengrabs. These are the shots that look 100% legit. He (or she?) then gave the raw image data of the RDP building and maybe some other rooms that are not on the trial disc to that certain group that "wants to fix" the game. I highly suspect that this is still nothing more than a RE2 hack but with more or less complete imagedata intact. The actual engine and scripts are from RE2. Hate to be a realist but that is most likely all there is.However, I still dont understand why the actual owner didnt just do a walkthrough instead.
Some of those pics are 100% real. There is no way to recreate the backgrounds to such a microscopic extent. A walkthrough instead of (presumably) giving away the missing image rips of the RPD to a group that recreates 1.5 in RE2-engine.

So ... the general idea is that someone has it, but someone else is doing this?
Also; regarding recreation ... I find it funny that so many say 100% real, 'cause it matches X or Y. I mean, if there's enough data for something to say that it's a 100% match, wouldn't that mean the amount of available data is totally substantial enough to also create an accurate recreation? ;D
Trivia; In many cases, people have been witholding unreleased content from much sought after stuff - all just in order to be able to easily spot fakes whenever they show up.
I would not say that some of these are 100% real if I didnt know better. I have contributed to several remake projects myself and have a solid understanding of 3D in general. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/717/ff7ele4.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/846/5min12ahd.png/ You cannot recreate backgrounds with that perfection what was shown here. The lighting and especially the materials would never look identical.
