Thread: Info about Resident Evil 1.5

You can see several screen shots of the end of the game... Leon in the train and what not, so yea the ending was done to an extent. Here are a few sweet screen shots from that video.

Very interesting stuff, we now know how the introduction of the Gorillas went.

Yeah, thanks for posting that but I've meant CG ending, just like RE 2.

    Oh, sorry, Pato.
I was mesmerizing the images that I didn't see your post.

I think there was two parties who were equally as guilty in what happend back then, and even though it was probably better for Curator to keep quiet, you can't blame him for responding in some of the ways he did. I don't know the guy personally so I can't say much about him as a person, but clearly he's made efforts to move on from what happened and continue to share information about the prototype. I think the community need to move on as well.
Why hasn't he shared it to the community?

I'm betting whoever he sold the proto to agreed with him that the sale was conditional on that he never released that version to the public, partly understandable if you've paid more than 10k.

Why would/should he share anything? There's plenty of collectors on this forum that understand the business of collecting. Many of them don't share or even speak of various valuable, personal, or one-of-a-kind items they have regardless of whether the item (betas and such) can be copied or not. It's their business, and whether it's because the item costed them a fortune, or they have a legit NDA, or a trust between friends, or simply just because they don't want to. There's no reason for Curator to share anything with a community he's not a part of just because the community wants it. He's in the business of collecting. Sure it bothers me just as much or more as any other fan of 1.5 in this case, but as I've gained friends who are collectors and talked with many over the last few years, I've come to better understand this and respect it in some degree. Not all collectors are very generous, but even many of them aren't bad people or anything. It's just the nature of collecting.

There's a lot of misconception about the status of the disc. Curator doesn't own the original disc that was sold in 2007 and he never did. The 3rd party who owns the disc still has it. Now before everyone starts calling bs on that, there's still the fact he had the disc in hand back in 2007 when he borrowed it from the 3rd party, so whether or not he made a copy is up to personal speculations. There's no solid proof he does/doesn't have a copy, as even with the new footage released, he stated long ago back in 2007 that he had more footage that he hadn't put up yet before the shitstorm went down and he closed up. And if he did make a copy of the disc himself, what if he wasn't supposed to? Would risk hurting his business if he leaked it or admitted to having a copy just to appease a small fanbase he's not even a part of. And even if he was allowed to make a copy for "preservation", he doesn't own the original disc so it's not his call whether to share it or not.

Right now, whether it's teasing, throwing a bone, or not, or whatever, we're fortunate to see new material at all. It may not be from one of the most publicly loved collectors, but whatever. Meanwhile, people interested in 1.5 still just gotta wait and hope that the source or a new source eventually comes forward and sells it/releases it to the public. While I realize it may never happen, I still have some faith...

Adding to Alzaire, imagine if I had a most expensive coin or stamp. Should I give it just away? Make a super high quality image of it? Look at deep, very deep into yourself, and ask. If you had 1.5 ... like really have it under your pillow, would you really let it go? Despite the problems you might get by sharing it. But just think and be honest! It is easy to release what you dont have. But once you have the rarest beta game ever... you wouldnt go much around sharing it. Perhaps only 1 person out of 100 would really do it. I am not a very huge collector but you gotta keep well what you collect. This thread should be only informative and questions about 1.5 not about wining and marking persons to good or bad. Honestly, If I would be Curator himself I would care a bit to even show things I found from my HDD. There is always jerks that screw things up. Please let's not repeat this again. That is just sad...

the point is that he's sold it and made his 'profit' from it already, all he has at the moment is a copy,

Alz makes a good point that it's just a different culture in proto collecting where some like the exclusivity and aren't interesting in spreading something people would enjoy.

PSM never sold it, Im not sure where youre getting that information from. And even if he did have a copy on his computer, he wouldnt risk his reputation and future ability to get games by backstabbing whomever loaned it to him and releasing it. And, on top of that, anyone who has an unreleased game, and releases it, knows that the value drops, its been shown time after time. So basically, its lose lose all around.

I imagine a lot of the leftover 20% work was fixing up stuff like this.

Absolutely, these type of things are left to final stager, OR rather it should be thought as low priority things in game development. The functionality comes first. Then graphics. And final beta testing for hard to find bugs (read: conditions where unimagineable things occur, like after shooting 5 zombies 1 never dies type of bug, or Nemesis running against book case and can't attack you (reallife bug, or if you prefer clitch)).

That's some pretty footage I see there. It does look recently recorded though.

You guys are crazy. He didn't say that it was from the 90s. He said he recorded it when he last had the game, years ago. Recording video of PS1 games hasn't changed in those years, so of course it still would look great.

I agree ... it also looks a lot cleaner than the previous footage he posted 4 years ago.

Other than the color difference and some squishing on the right, there really isnt that big of a difference, especially with the changes in Youtube itself over the years. Still nothing that screams that he totally must have a copy still.

watching them both in motion side by side still leads me to think the new footage has been captured more recently ...

Why you compare to Sneak Peek video? This video was Capcoms AFAIK.
If you do wanto make a comparing as between Curator videos then you should take that 10 minute video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXnym...ailpage#t=322s

Either way, you won't have any evidence of new video actually being newer, All I can see (look at the PSM watermark on left) That this older released video is not in that quality encoded as late release. Nothing more. Slightly different color can have many reasons, but if you look the black background then you see its also different color tone, that might best have to deal with Youtube. I konow they have changed a lot in video encoding to flash video format, and it was not so good in 2007. What is important is caputre size (note that this precise moment is when screen top and bottom has blacked out as with all cut scenes in that game) - and that indicates it is probably same caputre device. So actually there are no evidence to proof that video is actually newer or not. I just take Curators word. You should do the same.

EDIT: He might decreased 2007 video release quality on purpose to save bandwith on upload or whatever. And the new video he found on HDD was just in original quality.

EDIT #2: If you look at the older release PSM watermark on top, then it is more black then whole background, so to conclude: the the brightness level (perhaps with color level was modified turing capturing process and also and the quality is only difference (upload?). But still no indication that it is this year recording or smth. And no one has not told that he captured whole video in one session on. He might change the settings many times.
