I believe the best shot is look into who the devs are, seek them and ask: "hey could you please dump that old cd on your shelf".

Bioflames or any other site already tried any kind of interview with old devs?

Apart from Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kamiya, who else is there we can really ask that originally worked on this project (not that they haven't already commented in previous interviews)? I'm guessing most of the staff credited in the final version of Biohazard 2 were involved, but none of these are as well known. Besides, it's unlikely anyone still involved with Capcom and such a high profile cancellation would be in a position to leak any builds they may still own.

We just have to hope that one day security around the copies known to be in private hands falls long enough for someone to take advantage, though I wouldn't hold my breath for this happening any time soon, and we can probably rule out the PlayStation Museum source. Does anyone know more about the rumoured disc believed to be somewhere in Europe? I've heard this one mentioned too many times for it to be a co-incidence, although I can understand why the owner of a holy grail to so many would prefer to remain quiet, assuming they have such a prize in the first place!

I just remembered something... what was the name of the company founded in early 1997 to rewrite the scenario of Biohazard 2? Maybe someone linked to Flagship might still have a copy of the last known build of the 1.5 version, since they would have needed to review the previous game before planning any changes. Perhaps this could be a possible lead to follow in the future, as I don't recall anyone from this team being interviewed in the past on the subject of this project's restarted development.

This just proves that they didn't own the disc.

I don't know what happened to my issues of CVG, I would have scanned them and uploaded the reviews, I threw a lot of mags out years ago but kept the issues with Capcom games (1.5 especially) and Free Play. But they seem to have done a walk and I have no idea where they are, I remember storing them in the attic but that place is such a mess I couldn't stay up there for long. I believe CVG was an issue with photos of BH2 beta 1, the ones with the door on the west wall of the West Office, it's the reason I wanted to find them. Does anyone know if reviews of 1.5/2 from CVG were ever uploaded online?

im a huge fan of 1.5 got all the pics some magazines - ive modded japanese pc version on re2 with an elza skin and a few other 1.5 mods, also this guy called alissondownload is making an awesome resident evil 1.5 2d game and ive played the 3rd demo and it was amazing fun , I actually did not feel the need to play 1.5 on the ps1 because his game was that good , and the 2d sprites are great as well he and a few others have put alot of effort in to that game, so if your a 1.5 fan check it out on youtube Im also making a resident evil 1.5 game with rpg maker 2003 for fun Im enjoying making it and it's going really well so far , since im stuck at home at the moment with Degenerative disc disease , I have alot of time to work on it , leons sprites are done and so are elza's and sherry and robert kendo, im working on marvin and roy at the moment and a few more zombie sprites.
If anyone here knows any story elements like if elza and leon ever meet up in this game please tell me so I could work it into the game , this is also my 1st post so hi everyone , been interested in 1.5 since I was a kid .
I always wished they kepts elza and just made her claires best friend.

Hi and welcome to the forums chrisliam2! I've played AlinhoAlisson's 1.5 2D and it is very good, but nothing can replace the real thing unfortunately. I really wish something comes out so we can at least taste what would it be. Someone (collector) doing a full run-through of the game would be nice and would suffice.

you need the RE 2 source code to recreate 1.5

The thing I love about BH1.5 is that when Mikami made BH1 he clearly had a vision in his mind where the story was going, BH1.5 was the product of that vision untill the game was cancelled and redone. The artwork, the themes, the storyline, everything was the true successor to BH1, while the general plot of BH1.5 is similar to BH2 the overall story (apparently) takes massive turns apart. BH1.5 was supposed to tie up loose ends from BH1 and end the series, where as BH2 left doors open for new games to come. If you ever want to find out what happened to the protagonists in the universe where Umbrella was prosecuted and Wesker was not resurrected, you must play BH1.5. This is why the game has so much mistique to me, it's a spiritual successor to quite possibly one of the most prolific zombie stories ever told, and while we can play through the RE series and follow the story, you'll never know what happened before Capcom derailed the series and took it on the money train. One could argue that BH2 is the true successor to BH1 and if you want to know the story you should just play that, but you can never forget that BH has two universes, the one that made it and the one that didn't. I personally am a fan of telling a great story as opposed to selling some action games for money, a story is supposed to have an end and BH does have an end, we'll just never know it.

It does have a certain appeal in it. But from what I understand, Resident Evil 1.5 story was actually director Hideki Kamiya's, and the game itself isn't necessarily what its hyped up to be either. That's what I can say.

Interesting, I didn't know that! So it was Hideki Kamiya who originally wrote the story and then Sugimura who re-wrote it?

If we take out the fact that the game is unfinished and not reflective of a final product, I don't see how it could have been so bad that it required redoing the whole game. Sure BH1 models are inferior to BH2 models, but they had almost an entire game complete, redoing the story and brining in new voice actors is bound to be cheaper than redoing the art, redoing the engine, redoing the models etc, Capcom could have easily tweaked story elements and finished the game putting their time and money in to "BH3."

I'm one of the people who can say that I liked BH1 and wasn't bothered by the models, I'm also one of the people who can say I liked BH1.5's locations so much so that I prefer them over BH2. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but if Capcom had released the game I'm positive I would have enjoyed it (we have to think that things like the crappy animations on the zombies in the jail cells could easily be corrected with effort, it's a placeholder not an example of final product). The only excuse I believe is that the locations were boring, because plot and voice acting are only what you make it and one of the easiest things you could correct, if you weren't happy with the locations then nothing you could do could save the game for you. I personally loved the locations, but clearly Capcom didn't and the rest is history.

Never heard about that video before. So this guy owns the beta?

After sawing the video I googled it up and found this thread, to any newcomer it's a sad and interesting story:

The problem is that it's already 15+ years since... I'm sure all copies scattered around collectors, no point in trying to contact them.
    Insert stupid poem here.
