    Archos 605 Hacked

Well after what seems like an eternity, the Archos 605 wifi (my media player of choice) has been hacked. Arbitrary code is now running which should open things up for some developers to make some cool apps. I am completely oblivious when it comes to coding, but I know we have some prestigious coders (Subbie for one) that could do some cool things on this device. So maybe this is just a shameless plug for the player, but I am pretty excited to see what will happen.
BTW: here is the original thread http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=11144

I saw this a few days ago and forgot to comment. I really like the way the features the Archos has, but unfortunately I probably won't be able to afford one for some time (school and such).

I wonder what it's capable of...

I'm sort of surprised that you picked up the JXD 301 instead of waiting for the gp32x community Pandora system. Although for $120 you probably can't go too wrong on that one. Another big surprise for me is that online retailers are starting to pick up the JXD (http://www.gp2xstore.com/products/JX...le-111-0.html). I'll be curious to hear about how it works out for you!

Well luckly since my gf got it in china it was a bit cheaper then that. More around $80-90ish.

I think if the JXD gets hack it could have an interesting small community. It uses a base OS and processor so any work done could posibly make it into other devices (either legit or stolen by the hw maker, note all emus are stolen open source emus). As well it's said to have an amazing screen. Even my gf was blown away by it.

I'll get to play around with it this weekend. I'll give my impressions after I do.
