    SNES Beat Em Ups

The SNES sure was the Sytem to own if you liked this Genre:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v652CeLFy5s

Even thought the Greatest Beat up Series of All time was Genesis Exclusive (Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage)

That said.......what do you think the best Beat em up on SNES was and what was the one that came closest to Streets of Rage?

I'd say the Rushing Beat Trilogy.

it's too much up to your tastes... i consider streets of rage boring compared to good 'ol battletoads/battletoads vs double dragon!

Yes! Battletoads FTW! Same with TMNT, but SoR is still awesome. I just played 2 with some friends the other day.

Final Fight on SNES was pretty good UHUHUHUHUHUHUHUH

Basically almost every game back then was a identi-kit platformer or a scrolling beat 'em-up. Rose tinted glasses make us only remember the classics.

I hope you don't mean the first one. One player only, missing Industrial level, etc. Final Fight 2 on SNES was alright, Final Fight 3 was good. Final Fight and Final Fight Guy sucked.

well Final Fight is the end all be all in so far as fighting games are concerned - in my opinion ofcourse. there's so much good stuff out there. and I would not say it's due to rose tinted glasses - I love beat 'em ups now as I did back then.

edit: and I love Final Fight on the snes too, even with all the stuff that's missing. the controls are there, the mechanics are there (maybe a few more tricks than on the arcade too) - I still play it to this day I love it.

Final Fight 2 and 3 on the other hand.. bleh :P

I'm fortunate to be such a big fan of Final Fight and own the pcb hack of it. it's not anything serious, the hackers wheren't as gifted as Capcom obviously - but being able to play as the enemy is really frigging fun.

I was joking on Final Fight. The SNES one sucks.

I think a new Battletoads or XBL Arcade BT would be awesome but I think Rare said no because it's too hard.

Final Fight nut right here. the left one.

sorry but which is your criteria here? this is a commonly held point of view, and I'm baffled by it. it was a release title and so quite limited in comparison to the arcade - but if you're a fan of Final Fight and fighting games in general - I find it hard to understand how you could say this. the US version did suck - not the Super Famicom version. that is a fantastic game. but each to their own I suppose

I have the US version. Sucks was probably too strong. I actually didn't know it was a release either. I still had fun with it, but I thought the general consensus is that it's pretty inferior.

It's been Confirmed (in the same EGM as SF IV) that Poison is a guy.......though for purposes not to be said here........I think of shim as a Futa Girl.

But yeah I need Guy AND cody in my final fight. Not one or the other.

well the classic Mortal Kombat games (especially 2) and Clay Fighter are my pick I guess. There's surely more that I can't recall right now.
You can ask for any old woman
You can ask for an army of ants
You can ask for a pillar of poison
You can ask for sheep and shavers

    And you can die for
Be careful what you wish for

In Europe Beat Em ups seem to refer to any game that involves ass kicking

In the US Beat Em Ups usually mean games like Streets of Rage and Final Fight.

Final Fight on SFC was as shitty as on SNES. No 2 player, poor sound, missing guy (or missin Cody), missing the whole industrial level and Rolento, it sucks hard. Obviously they only have so much ROM space for a SNES release but that doesn't excuse some of the shittyness, like lack of 2 player mode and poor sound as I recall.

I don't know how you could not like Final Fight 3, it was great. Esspecially the first level's music. It was so awesome there was a Famicom pirate version. :p
