sealed games (and a new message Board Sealedgameheaven.com)

    Hi everyone,

first of all: I have the permission of the page admin for this thread.

I know this is a bit of a taboo subject amongst the general gaming community, but it's news all the same, and may interest the small minority to whom it applies.

A new forum site has recently just been set up aimed at collector's who prefer to collect factory sealed video-games, called Sealed Game Heaven ( http://forum.sealedgameheaven.com , http://www.sealedgameheaven.com , http://www.sealedgameauctions.com ) and has already so far been reported on by Kotaku.com; InsertCredit.com and so on ...

The forum features in-depth guides and discussions regarding sealed games from all regions, as well as useful information regarding what to look out for, as well as the differences between factory seals and reseals. It also has another section where members have posted pictures of their impressive sealed game collections for your viewing pleasure!
Even if you are not a fan of this unique collecting phenomenon, it may still fascinate you or even provide enlightenment!

I collect sealed games for more than 4 years and i just want to know if there are some other crazy guys out there who are also sealed collectors like me or are interested in this type of collecting.

Do you think it is worth to collect sealed games or do you think sealed collecting is just wasting your money...

    best greetings
    Pascal

I collect sealed PAL Saturn games, particularly the French blister packs. This is on top of my playable collection, though.

I also keep a few interesting titles sealed, e.g. I have a sealed 1st UK release of Hitman 2 on the PC (banned version), a sealed Zelda promo disc on Gamecube and a sealed Twilight Princess on Gamecube (as it is probably going to be the last game released here).

Collecting sealed games... well there's several opinions on it. One, of course, is how can you tell it is a genuine original sealed game? OK, Nintendo started wrapping things with their special seal, which would be difficult (though not impossible) to replicate. Other than that, many games (e.g. NES) were plain shrink-wrapped. Even some PAL Saturn games, which weren't shrink-wrapped in the UK, simply have a plain see-through seal. Some also think that it is a waste to never play the game - after all, that's what it was made for! However, yes there are lots of people who like having them factory sealed - and pay crazy prices for them! I wish I'd kept some of the sealed N64 games I had access to until not all that long ago!

I would love to be able to collect sealed games, but i normally refrain from buying them as i just can't resist opening them:icon_bigg. I mainly collect for the SMS and when i see blister packs in other peoples collections it always makes me wish i wasn't like a kid in a sweet shop;-). I did bag this one the other day though, some people would say its unfortunate that its been opened, but at least it stops me from ripping it up!

In my case I'll have anything as long as it's in good condition, which means clean, no scratches on the disc and free of sun fade. I don't care if an item is sealed or not as long as it looks new.

Maybe but theres no way that i would buy anything super rare/expensive if it was sealed... Things can easily be reselead and also you never know if something is missing in the box.

That is very true. Sealed stuff is always worth more but in my case I'm not collecting for the value but for the fun of it  I like to see everything I own running. Even the worst games in the world can have something of interest even if it's just making fun out of how bad it is

yep Yakumo ! thats right! But there are still some "only collector(s)" out there. They do not have the time to play games but they have time to collect them maybe sealed or just prefer the collection part.

There are a lot of reasons to collect sealed games....but there are also a lot of reasons to play games.
The game-business is big and it's getting bigger and bigger and so it happens that it's generates new types of gaming (eSports) and new types of collecting (sealed). That's the way it is. We'll see what happens....

Exactly. I'm a gamer just like you, so i buy for the fun of it.

Still, if some of you guys want sealed stuff, i don't think it's a problem. People need to do what they like and what makes them happy. If you are happy, who am i to say you are wrong?
