    arcade sticks?

Now that I'm back in the saddle with the Dreamcast and will be getting assloads of fighters for PS2 I need a good Arcade stick.

so far my best options are the X arcade and this http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...B-70-11si.html

I wouldn't mind finding those Neo Geo Pads either but nobody seems to have those (the ones based on the Neo CD pad)

What else is recomended for a PS2 arcade stick? I'll need 2 of them.

those are both peices of shit. The X-Arcade lags with just about every console, and that other one I wouldnn't trust. Make your own.

    Xbox, Ps2, PS1, Gamecube

    http://www.amazon.com/PELICAN-ACCESS.../dp/B0001XFLV4

That is the one you should buy , and some parts from HAPP, simple replace the buttons and joysticks and you have a universal arcade stick. :)

http://cgi.ebay.com/Pelican-Universa...QQcmdZViewItem heres one on ebay, the version with a dock to hold oyur cables.

Buy an Agetec. Gut it, put in either Sanwa or Seimitsu parts.

Best unmodded stick is the Hori Real Arcade stick. Not quite perfect but still very good. Good enough for your average player basically. Works well with USB or DC adapters as well.

The only other one I would mention is the Sammy Fighter Stick for PS2, hard to grab these days, but cheaper, set in an octagon and much better than the cheap hori options.

But if you are going to be serious about it, get modding. The first time is a real baptism of fire, but well worth the effort. Now if a button on my shooter stick is even mildly sticky or less than responsive I can have it fixed in minutes.

I have the X-Arcade Dual and it is really nice. I don't notice any lag at all on it but I have one of the newer ones that has the USB on it. They are built really tough and I am pretty sure they now have lifetime warranties on them and the company stands behind it. They are also nice because they have a decently low price. I got mine for $99.99 when they were having a sale on them.

I used a SilkStick Quad at CGE last year and it was awesome. Easily the best controller I have ever used. I would love to have one but there is no way I can justify the $700 for it.

you can get slick stick quality by buying a xarcade and modding it, or by buying a pelican real arcade pro and modding it. The pelican would be the cheaper way.

And why pray tell would you not want to use the two best products on the market to play a fighting game? Can a million Japanese be wrong?

    I decided on Mas sticks.

ha. Japan isn't even on the world wide tournament scene for Marvel Vs Capcom 2. That game is best played with Happ Parts. As is the rest of the VS Series. Now capcom vs snk, street fighter 3, king of fighters, those should be played with sanwa and semitsu.

Why would Happ parts be "better"? Isn't that just personal preference?

That could explain why the game is not big in Japan (or it just could be that the game is utter cal)

As for the 360 DOA Stick, it is basically good enough for the games available on the 360 that need it - ie. Senko No Ronde and DOA4. If you were going to use it to play original xbox fighters like GG or hit a bit of Psyvariar you may find it lacking. It is simply the basic hori stick - responsive but a bit over loose. With arcade sticks you always get what you pay for!
I honestly believe Gundam vs Gundam Extreme is the greatest game every created - seriously, check it out.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is the most played competetive fighting game on a tournament level. So it's not that the game is crap.

And it's not just a personal preference, it's the preference of all high level players. the response from a sanwa joystick just doesn't feel right for the way the game is played. I don't know what technically it is, but there is a technical explaination, i just can't remember it.

Fair enough, never got into any Marvel Vs Capcom at a high level and also never used Happ in a tournament.

You sound like a fan of MvC, do you have any recommendations for match vids that might change my mind?

I hate Japanese sticks so that's why I decided to either go korean or get Mas sticks.

I was at this arcade that only had candy cabs so no US Style sticks my awesomness in every fighter there was down 80%

Wow, that's interesting. Really unusual for a japanese game. Is the MVC2 scene still active?

MvC2 scene has never been big in Japan really. Yeah there are pockets of players here and there, but it is actually hard to find versus cabs anywhere.

I would not take this as any sign that Japanese players are bad at the game, just nobody plays it. So no surprises that they are not big in the int tourney scene.

I guess while it is a Japanese game, it is half a western license - with characters that are niche (at best) in Japan.

BTW I also would not take its popularity as a sign of quality. I think it is very easy to get into, moves are easy and it is button basher friendly. While there is (apparently) a lot of depth, basic competence is easier than in most fighters. But I am defo not high level at this game.
