Thread: Emulation Info

    Emulation Info

Anyways, besides what's already been done I figured it'd be a good idea to assemble a good compatibility list with the various Saturn emulators.

The only one that seems to have really been talked about is SSF 0.08 Alpha R11 Sega Saturn Emulator.

Anyways, post you experiences and minor problems. I will edit this list as news comes in.
I'm assuming that you guys are using the latest versions of the emulators. If there is a instance where it works in a older version but not a newer one, please point it out.

Current Compatibility List (in alphabetical order)

Cassini: some dodgyness, music messed around for awhile, messy textures, but still very usuable.

GiriGiri: Works alright apprantly even for those with non SSE2 processors.

Satourne: Glitchy & slow (background isnt proper, meshes dont display, etc)

Yabuse 0.8.5 for PC: runs at decent speed, though, there are a few texture issues

can you give more details on what exactly happens. Personally I haven't got around to doing much emulation (as I've used my friends saturn), so I haven't experiment with SSF yet. This is the begining of my emulation venture.

I can't even get the SSF emulator to work it just leaks ram and ends up crashing. If you could recommend another emulator that would be great.

Your processor might not be supported by ssf... you need to place the bios in the emu directory, go to options and select it. Burn the game or mount it as a volume. Then it should load. If you get "invalid disc" change the region toggle.

    Hope that helps.

ssf needs a cpu which has sse2, also its recommended to use dual core. Other then that it works on anything from 32bit XP to 64bit Vista. Also it doesn't need a BIOS file, it works fine without one.

And it runs the iso pixel perfectly from what I've seen.

Satourne also works but its super glitchy and slow, background isnt proper, meshes dont display, etc

girigiri-gav should work (I was told), but it'll display the meshed transparencies differently.

    dunno about others.

I honestly believe Gundam vs Gundam Extreme is the greatest game every created - seriously, check it out.

So does all this information mean that you need certain systems specification to run SSF with any Saturn game, or are these problems specific to the use of Xtreme with the emulator.

Actually I was just about to test it on Yabuse before I got sidetracked by something. Mainly because if it works on Yabuse, it just may work with Yabuse-dc which would of course be super cool,. especially since this isn't a game that requires a save feature.

Still I haven't really been able to put together a image file that I can burn and get to work on my DC of the dam thing. Anyone care to help me out by making one. It would be really appreciated.

I think your right something inside my pc SSF just doesn't like I've tried it with no programs working and it still never loads and just users up all of my ram which curses a crash. Shame I was looking forward to testing :crying:

Yes. I've played it on my pal Saturn several times since the day of release.

I have a model 1 so I've had to rely on a region fix and the swap method...works perfectly.

no sound means you burned it wrong, or the emu isn't reading the audio sub

i never burned the iso/cue i just mounted it with daemon tools but i just re-joined the files again about a minuite ago saving it to a diffrent folder and then mounted with Alcohol 120% and it seems to work now albeit slow which may be down to my machine not being the best pc in the world but it works so i am not complaining

AFAIK the dc port cannot run commercial games yet, even if it could it'd be painfully slow.
