How the term "RED" became the description for harder than "hard"
Should be called suicidal, but RED works just as well.

Red equals....Real Expert difficulty. This may be bullshit, an educated guess, a shot in the dark or whatever you want to call it.
What games use these? Sounds like a western thing. Hardest stuff I've played recently:
Shinobi
Kunoichi
Ninja Gaiden
Where would these games fit in there?
I loved Shinobi PS2, but found Kunoichi to be bad bad bad. I played it about one hour before dropping it. Controlling a pink ninja with no style beating ugly monsters didn't appeal me. While Shinobi was utter cool.Originally Posted by GaijinPunch
I wonder if it gets better in later levels ?
How difficult is Ninja Gaiden compared to Shinobi ? Shinobi isn't extreme difficult (as least in Normal mode) once you get used to the control and know how to take advantage of combos.

Always seeking Sega Mark III / Master System / Game Gear / SG-1000 / SC-3000 / SF-7000 goodies, prototype, promotion, development stuff, hardware, software, magazines, books, notes, sources code, data, information. Anything! I want it! I breath it!
Hmm, I rather liked Nightshade/Kunoichi to be honest, but I haven't yet tried Shinobi yet tho...
Unless you count the PC Engine version, where he seemed to be some sort of pedophile in a grey sweatsuit and sunglasses fighting an army of what looked to be airline flight attendents in levels with Marilyn Monroe posters in the background.
The Master System version still had the Monroe posters in the background, but he was in camos and he fought some paramilitary nuts and a FREAKING CHOPPER.Originally Posted by Greatsaintlouis

I played Kunoichi before Shinobi, and played both on Normal mode (not easy) the first time. Takes a while to get your TATE skills down, but once you do, it eases up a bit. The platforming on the last 5 stages of Kunoichi though is enough to drive anyone insane - - it's a hard game. How difficult is Ninja Gaiden compared to Shinobi ? Ninja Gaiden is hard, but in a different way. There's nothing like the tate system, but there's some very hard bosses. The difficulty here is staying alive with a lot of enemies rushing you. I've yet to beat it, but if the last boss is anywhere near as hard as the last boss on Shinobi, I'll be very put out.
Jim powers on genesis anyone?
