Another Brand New Dreamcast Shooter !!!!

It's true !! :drinkers: There is another Dreamcast shooter on it's way thanks to Project Firestorm called Karugamo:xxx (軽鴨). Now before you get too excited the Dreamcast game seems to be a port from the PC version which is a rip of many different DC Shooters. The title screen looks just like Ikaruga. The main ship is from Mars Matrix and some of the attack paterns look as if they are from Do-Donpachi. But all tht doesn't bother you now, dose it? The fact that there's yet another game for the Dreamcast is enough to celebrate. Head on over to http://www.project-firestorm.com/karugamo/kg.html to see the screen shots and video. At the moment they have the game listed at 29.95 Euros which isn't too bad. I'm going to be keeping an eye on this one.

    Karu(i) = light; not heavy
Kamo, which becomes Gamo in a compound word, is a duck.

It's a piss-take on Ikaruga, which is a fictional place (a la Atlantis) but the two Kanji's mean spotted and bird.

Yes it is a funny name :smt043 I never noticed it until you mentioned that it was funny. I always thought Ikaruga meant White Phoenix Bird or Holy Bird or something like that. I can't read the kanji in the word Ikaruga. It's far too difficult for me so I asked my wife what it meant in English and like always she said it means nothing. She always says that about game titles. So I asked her about what each Kanji meant and yet again she said it has no meaning until finally she said something about a powerful bird place. Oh well :smt017

    So certain, are you? :smt024

    http://www.town.ikaruga.nara.jp/

There's also an English language section on there for the curious. Someone in Japan should go check it out, see if you can't track down Shinra or any of the others.. :smt043

when you complete ikaruga you'll see on the background an greenish island with allot of birds flying... so the whole bird theory doesnt sound so strange :drinkers:

Dreamcast - the system that just won't die :smt027 .

I still have to order a copy of Ikaruga. I'm getting tired of using a burned copy (I hate using "backups" of any type)...

I meant no offense to the Dreamcast, I love mine... :smt024

As for the backup, well, excuses are excuses, I know, but I have no money and no way to order a copy (unless I could use my brothers paypal account again).

Yeah, I heard about that town. I feel Yakumo's pain. It's a reaction to tell foreigners that it doesnt' mean anything. The only thing you'll hear more when asking about something in Japanse is, "Don't worry -- you don't need to know that.". Well? Why is it on my test then?

I think Yakumo's White Phoenix translation is much more accurate. I did ask the wife what she thought it mean, and she quickly came back wtih "it's place... but it doesn't really exist... you hear about it in stories." Then she went on about her business.

I wonder if there's a small hick town named Atlantis in the states anywhere.
