There is no saturn version left existing except this, this is the only copy existing.

There is a PC version of the fisheye game, but it's mostly stuff added on
    in revent years.

I'll make some videos and pictures, but so far the lack of excitement
is disappointing. I understand that we might not be sonic fans
and that could be a problem.

That is one reason why I set the auction for a week.
If we do terribly, and don't get close I am just going to pull the plug.
However that probably means the game will never see the light of day.

I have the game here, in my hands. If this takes six months, it takes six months.
Some of you weren't here for the giant shitstorm that hit last time, and that is
    why it is hidden away.

We could probably raise the money in a few hours if it were out in the open.

However, the chaos and bitter feuding isn't worth it.

i've bought other 3. +1 before that's 4 total from azi-dahaka (me). after seing something makes you more willingly. next time better make some pics and video immediatly at the start of the deal ;)

Hmmm? I never suggested for a second that the software was unimportant. In making a contribution of any kind however large or small I thought that perhaps I was doing ''my bit'' irrespective of my interest in this particular piece of software or not.

Being new shouldn't mean being a easy target for a community flaying!

Whenever I've said anything to upset or offend (which hasn't been often), I've had the guts to admit it and apologise. I'm quick to spot my mistakes.

Kev, you can't pick & choose the people that become members of the Assembler community, but you can nurture the community and let it grow. I think it's genuinely a fantastic place, but today I just feel that I'm being patronised which is ironic considering those who immediately responded to my posting totally missed what was being written. Was I or was I not actually trying to drum up further contributions and even suggesting a general forum raffle for future funds? I even said I would be willing to donate a bit of my kit to the cause!

I enjoy being part of the community, but not being patronised for being less knowledgable on specific subject matter.

What I wrote seemed to be totally missed, the points I made were lost in some weird time warp! I said I was in favour, count me in, here's my donation and what can we do to drum up further cash! Also, do we have sufficient people in the thread to reach the target with just $5 contributions. Somehow it ended up with '' you are an idiot Parris '' - lol

Hey, it's no sad loss and you'll still retain the contribution. Even better, you don't even have to apologise, which would have been good, but fair enough!

    Hi Everybody,

I just wanna add that we are given an incredible opportunity here to get something that is one of a kind. Let's not ruin it. Kevin is trying to pull this off for us, he is not forced to do so.

How many people do you actually know who would do that?

From my prospective if people have questions they should ask them, forums are meant primarely for discussion let's not forget that. There are enough crap out of the forum to get angry at. Let's make at least the 0bit section peaceful and opened.

If some of the people here don't have a Saturn, there are a couple of decent saturn emulator like SSF which are getting better everyday. Any help required let me know.

This time it is Sonic next time it might be a title that some other like, let's try to make this release a smooth success to pave the way for more. I'm not a huge fan of Sonic myself, but I guess I am very interested in anything unreleased.

I agree totally. What I wrote was not meant as a dig and Kevin should be congratulated on having fought to get this released.

Debate & discussion on how to facilitate further releases, whether a slush fund should be provide so that unexpected releases can be snapped up, all sorts of questions exist and I hoped to open a path for some of that.

This area of the forum really should be for serious discussion about serious issues (which I am sure is what was initially intended). Regrettably that can mean serious fall outs, so hand extended and waiting for Kev type shake...... so, let's just get on with it eh!

    Absolutely:thumbsup:

How many guys open and maintain a forum for your pleasure, gives you great videos about Hudson, manage to get you an opportunity to get Sonic Extreme and more later and so many other stuff that we take for granted!!!

Let's respect that and the Sonic Extreme opportunity and get on with it all together, don't forget videogames are fun!!!

I think we should really start to debate, on what we are going to be able to hack out of this beta, extra characters, tiles, codes...

Wish I had an action replay for my saturn now...

Who knows, I may finally "get" that whole Sonic vibe as the only release I really liked was the original one. I hated Sonic Adventures and when I sat watching mates playing various other versions I felt that the originality had been replaced with stock phrasing (If you catch my drift?)

sorry if i sounded mean parris. i was just stating that what to do with acclaim's software it's up to kev completely. just that.

also, beside some argument i can't see any flames... let's call it settled, everybody, ok?

it's true, something is important to someone, and less to another. But this proves that we're a great community because lots of people are donating even if they're not sonic fans (like) or doesn't have a sure way to play it (again like me :D ). I think the incomprehension grow because we're all wishing to see this first important deal end off soon and well.

PS sorry again if i've contributed in creating a bad atmosfear, i'm just and open man and say what i have on my mind freely. also i never get offended by anything and sometimes i overdo it thinking that people doesn't take it the wrong way like i do.

Call it settled Karsten, no problems here.

Re Kev's Acclaim software. I wasn't suggesting he "give" it away or even donate anything. It was merely a light hearted suggestion in order to generate a legitimate source of funding for the releases. If I have a $20 PSx with Acclaim written on it (which I do) and it was auctioned, it would be in the general threads as a bit of fun. You'd have every man and his dog donate $5 if he thought he was getting a bit of devkit. Unknown to the general thread, all those donations would be contributed to a slush fund for software releases.

The point wasn't to get Kev to put his hand in his pocket, it was just an example. Honestly, I genuinely don't expect anyone to go further along the road than I would be willing to do so myself.

I felt the lick of a few flames, but perhaps it was unintentional. I think it needs to be clarified that being "new" doesn't mean "stupid" it just means you lack the experience and knowledge, which is why I feel the need to ask dumbass questions. It saves anyone else doing the same >>> points at no one in particular (but you know who you are!) lol

All is fair in love & gaming

Put one of my worries another way. Take Kevin out of the situation just for a second. Imagine this were anybody else. If the seller rips the buyer off, then we have a problem. What if all the donations don't come in, who pays the short fall, what would happen to the auction if it were cancelled or fell through and the buyer were left having to pass back all those donations? PayPal fees aside, it would mean losses on both sides. I am sure these are all sensible queries gleened from almost 5 years of dealing with eBay and PayPal.

This time it should all go 100% smoothly, but I was asking about what to expect in relation to future finds. Have none of us considered where Kevin would be if he were left to make the shortfall and arguements sprang up about where to go with this next time? Seriously, sometimes the glittering prize at the end of the line takes people's eyes off the logical ball!

I always try to deal with things I can afford, which isn't always easy when something turns up out of the blue. You might have 1 buyer, but you have approximately 400-500 stakeholders in the end. That's a few people to go around if an issue arises and the whole point of doing this in such a manner is because few of us actually has $2k sitting available to purchase one particular item. That's a heap of cash if something goes terribly, tragically wrong. I might not have negotiated the release or purchase of a $2k software title (rare or otherwise) but I've dealt with $500k house deals and I cross t's dot i's and like to know everyone (including the person(s) respresenting the stakeholders) are safe from being caught out.

In the end, I might be "new" but I am not "green" and although I come to this site with many expectations, I don't expect anyone to take a $2k dump for me. Kev could at some point get shafted for PayPal fees or worse!

The original Sonic was brilliant, it was new, fresh, fast and different from Super Mario, a hit. With sequels you loose that initial vibe that makes the game so special. I had the same impression with Shenmue I loved the first one to death but then the next one seemed less appealing.

As always take the same principles but a different sorty doesn't mean necessarily you have a hit. Capcom learned that with Resident Evil, Zero was crap but 4 was incredibly new and different.

I think from the Sonic Extreme beta we can learn a great deal on a hit to be being washed out by corporate bullshit.

SEGA US: "can we use your nights engine"
SEGA JAP: " no it's ours you can't have it"
SEGA US "but we already made a demo with it"
SEGA JAP "give it back it's mine"
SEGA:"BTW aren't we in the same company?"

    and the story goes on...

    Assembler:

I've never bought a Saturn that didn't go for over $40, granted that is with games but why else would you buy a used console for?

    To those without chips:
Assuming your saturn isn't a 64 pin model or a model 1 chipping the thing is easier than changing your oil, and less messy to boot. If you are really really are scared to solder you could literally tape the wires in place as there are only 2 and neither go anywhere terribly small.

    To those without Saturns:
    Whats wrong with you?!?!

Yeah, this one seems secure enough, which is a bonus, but it's a general concern about on-going auctions / purchases. Ground rules if you like. ;-)

I really wish I could donate, but paypal screwed me over greatly last time because of a laptop. I have not seen anything about this yet, but is donating via a money order possible? I would love to donate $40 or so.

  17. #157
I should have some funds within the next few days and then ofcourse I'll contribute. it is a bit more money with the dollar/peso situation (1 dollar is just over 3 pesos) - but it's painless when it comes down to what's at stake. I would drop a nice 50 on this if it wheren't for our devalued currency.

I'll donate more later if there still isn't that much excitement. The only thing is that I'm still a student, with no job, a bank account in this country and an $800 debt to pay off (no BSing here, I want Sonic as much as the next guy), so unless the money is really needed, I've only donated once.

So when you bid and it says quantity, bid 4 more. (if you've only bid once so far)
I bought 2 items when the auction first went up. so i paid 10 dollars.

then I put in 5 more, for 25 dollars. and it's only showing me buying 5. o_O

it's normal. it overwrites the old bid. if you want to pay 35 just bid again for 7.
