    Amiga CD32

I just got a CD32, and have trouble getting it to work. I turn it on with a game (its Oscar and Diggers), and it takes me to the start up screen with the Amiga CD32 logo, then by pressing the blue button it takes me to the language select, and by pressing the red button it takes me to the memory manager screen. But i cant get the game started, What do i have to do?, did i get ripped of buying a non working console. (By the way, i just noticed some of the control pad buttons may not work, but i am not sure).
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

I'm actually interrested in the CD32, is it hard to get ? and what are resonable prices for one with a few games because i've never come across one here in holland.

I have a cd32 game mag and the games looked really really good.

Be sure to get an "Honey-Bee" Pad - these ones are MUCH more better than the original CD32 Pads.

Alien Breed is one of the top-games for the CD32.

PAL ones aren't *that* hard to come across, I'd expect to pay around £25 for a loose console with a couple of games. NTSC units are a different matter entirely...

If you get one, make sure that you pick up the world's finest version of Speedball 2 along with it ;)

    I`m drunk

The unit was released in PAL only right? So no NTSC units right?

    ntsc

there are indeed at least a few NTSC units.. I have seen two in all my life; one at a pawnshop some 10yrs ago, that i did not purchase at the time and as such kicked myself for a good 9 yrs following, up til about a year ago when i scored one (in box!) at the flea market.. and this one is not just an NTSC model, but a VanCity Bank Online Banking NTSC model, which includes an expasion-port modem and IR-remote combination.. perhaps vancouver, BC will prove to be the goldmine of NTSC CD32s.

How can you tell the difference between an NTSC and PAL model CD32?

Too true. I've made the mistake of getting a PAL one without asking first. When I did get an NTSC, it wasn't a real bad system -- just very euro-centric.

Damn, my tv is suposed to accept both, PAL and NTSC, but for some reason i only get a black and white image with the CD32. Damn sales man, i think he ripped me off because the manual does not mention how to swith between them or if the tv does it by itself. Argh!

I believe when you hold certain buttons you can switch a pal cd32 to ntsc.
I used to have a pal unit with sx64

Absolutely hilarious. Hey, you know I was actually wondering if there was any difference in the appearance of the console, something that might be different between the PAL and NTSC units.

Apparantly you can plug in an Amiga mouse and hold both buttons during start-up to switch between PAL and NTSC modes. Or so I've been told...

I'd imagine that the small print on the serial number label should tell you which you have. Visually, they're identical.

...for a change. Which I think is quite nice with all the american-oriented crap flying around nowadays (no offense to anyone, in fact I am 50% American from a genetic standpoint) :p

Oh, I know... I was just saying that in terms of its marketability here stateside. I mean, I'm a Jaguar owner with a complete commercial release set (or very close to), so you *know* I don't mind the euro-centric gaming. :smt033

The Cd32 was a steaming pile of shit.I paid 399 quid for one on release and the only game I ever enjoyed forit was some time travelling pre rendered game, labyrinth of time I think it was called. The rest of the games look like shit, worse than their amiga counterparts.

Steer away at all costs and spend your cash on something decent.

It's so bad,you would be better spending your money on an amstrag gx or whatever they were called.

I once read a very positive review on the Whaler (or was it Whale`s Voyage) game... ever since I`ve been wanting to buy a CD32 for that game :-)

If only I hadnt skipped on the boxed CD32 with 5 games for 110e deal :Hangman:
