Today I started a new project at work, and as a part of it I got a dedicated Amazon server to work with. Its speed is a bit better than the ones I'm used to work with O_O

What is the best and worst time to run this tests at in the UK? I'd like to see how my internet fluctuates

We're sorta getting our advertised speed.

I have cable, but my internet speed is terrible. Probably the bandwidth.

Virgin are beginning to deliver solid speeds. Of course you wont get anything like that until you use usenet or something.

I have never had any problems with Virgin media, had broadband with them (originally NTL) for almost 10 years now. Never had any problems getting the advertised speed.

Currently paying for 20mbit and get 20mbit

Speedtest.net is also not very reliable, i find i get better speed test results to the servers in France... rather than the ones in the UK.

We joined Telewest in 2003 I believe. Initial problems but nothing until 2007 after the virgin merger.

in July 2007 the tv fucked up. Some channels just wouldn't work and the time/date and channel guide never changed. Stuck this way for months until somebody came out and sorted it. In september 2007 the internet completely borked. crap (2mb/s from speedtest compared to 10mb we were ment to be getting). Then that fixed and we've had subpar service (maybe 7mb max)up until I'd say 2010 when they really sorted it all out and now we get our advertised speed (10mb/s)

My university offers approx 9.8mb/s download and 8.5mb/s upload according to speedtest.net.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

I recently changed my line deal with NTT from their OCN set up to a direct NTT set up. I have no idea what they did but it saves about 1030 yen a month and gives amazing results. Oh yes, now that's what you call a good connection! Still not 100MB/s as they say it is but still, you can't complain at speeds that fast.

faster than 96% of Japan  But probably slower than 96% of Korea :crying: but faster than most 1st world western countries

Speedtest.net just shows me Upload Test Error and it says all already...

    Ohh, finally:

Actually average speed is 50 kb/s, low is 2 kb/s, max is 130-150.
And you know, connection like that costs about 20-25$...fuckin' russia, what can I say...

I would be surprised i anyone is still on dial-up. I pay for 20MB and get 7MB, really not good but I live in a block of flats and the landlord wont let the ground be dug up for fibre optic to be put in. Feel really behind :(

I just moved into residence for the my studies and... WOW... I can't believe this shit.

That's faster than in my wildest dreams LOL. The old residence building where I'd been living for the past 2 weeks had a bandwitdh of approx. 8.5mbps DL... crazy. Can't wait to download something, just for the sake of it.

    /edit
I just downloaded something, I hit like 10-11.5 Megabytes per second. That's pretty sick for my standards. Even 4mbit was a huge boost for me like 2 years back - when I was still using a 0.7mbit line...

Highest I've ever seen is 50MB, thats rather impressive. How much does that set you back?

It's included with my housing fees which are the same as for the other residences - like the one with the 8.5mbit line... so in short: nothing.

    Just tried again:
