Good Lord .... I could do better than that with an Acetylene Torch.

Some people probably shouldnt be in the same room with electronics let alone be trying to "Mod" them

Thats as bad as Ive seen in a while.

that image was simply shocking, I hope the original "modder" gave up the profession and went back to frying hamburgers at McDonalds instead. :fresh:

Damn, and I thought I was bad. I tried putting a Duo2 SE into my v2 ps2 and it wouldn't boot. Nothing anywhere near as bad as that mind you, just some solder that shorted a line on the bios chip. A quick wick later and it booted, but I managed to fry the resistor at Z point so now I have to take the top of the ps2 off to play games. At least it works?

Now my overclocked genesis will tell you I am great at soldering when the points don't require muscle relaxants and a microscope.

You should see some of the trace fixes people have done with botched XBox mod installs. Far far worse than that with results just as good.

People should be licensed to own a soldering iron.

I don't see how people can do such things. Even, how people can burn or break SMT soldering points on PCB's.

I use a JCB 14S (14 watt) soldering iron, and if I even push some soldering point hard for a minute I don't get to break them.

If I connect 4 points with themselves, with moving the iron by the 4 points they get ok another time.

I don't understand why people likes risking $249 for the $40 that costs installing the modchip on a proper place.

They just use too hot an iron, like one used for plumbing.

people are generally cheap and try to get by with what they have.

If you do remember to post pictures here, still it would be nice to see someone take a arc welder to a Wii. ;)

If I could find one cheap in need of repair or something I would do it and video the whole thing.

It's lack of equipment. I think lots of people attempt mod jobs without having the right iron or equipment for it. Not to mention just regular soldering experience.

You wouldn't want to do a Wii or PS2 on your first attempt. You'd probably want to do some practice on a dead board first.

    Wow. What a waste.

I wouldnt try that even If I had experience. All I am good at soldering is electric equipment in cars.

Hahaha, yeah. I've got one of these. It was used for soldering rail tracks here (lol).

It can kill you if you let it heat too much (or at least seriously hurt you).
