I don't know if this is all that rare, but I've only ever seen one in the wild and I bought it:

Watara's Supervision was a perfect Gameboy imitator. down to the specifications of the screen. It can even use the same power supply, and on the right side there's a DB-9 port for console linking. Of course, the games were terrible and there was nothing from third-parties or licensees to make it appealing outside of Asia.

I used to own one of the Sony CD-i units, which had a built-in controller, LCD screen and ran off a camcorder battery. I foolishly sold it years ago, but it was easily the rarest (and most useless) piece of gaming equipment I've ever owned.

Yes, that's an NES Power Pad that the Supervision is lying on. That's not particularly rare either.

Uhm... I don't own much ''rare'' things but I'm proud of : My limited edition (250 copies) signed copy of Sam & Max Surfin' the Highway, my normal copy of Surfin' the Highway , a commemorative pen from the shooting of Battlefield Heart that John Travolta gave to the Crew, a screen-used scenario of I'm Not There, and, uh... My copy of The Sandman Waits, from The Residents (300 copies).

    Hey all,

Things are a little different here in the UK. To me my Sega Nomad is VERY rare as is my mint Japanese Virtual Boy and games...I have Castlevania Legends on the gameboy...Game.com...Resident Evil Gaiden...emm...a mint NES Gameboy SP? A mint Barcode Battler...

Thing I find funny is things like Gamecube Dev kits, Playstation Dev kits, SNES competition carts and Prototypes are all quite common on UK eBay...

I have quite some stuff but my unreleased games and acc. would be the rarest things i own.

NES: Exploding Fist, American Crisis. I have some NES proto's that weren't released in NTSC but are in this format ( Noah's Ark NTSC, New Ghostbusters II NTSC, Solomon's Key 2 NTSC).

I have stuff for other systems also, unreleased/ proto's/ testcarts etc., too lazy to mention them now and the NES stuff would be worth more i guess.

I spotted one of these locally on eBay this weekend. First time I had ever seen one, but that doesn't make it rare either as handhelds at that period never really appealled to me.

The not too common lol unless you look in my lock-up. Never seen any in shops only Ebay. (Not too surprising as they are USA only)
Coming to an App store near to you soon! or not as the case may be.

    Hmm,

My two rarest items are my Sonic the Hedgehog promo independent comic (US edition) and my Sonic Tectoy pin badge which apparently was only handed to employees but I'm still not 100% sure how rare it really is, my girlfriend bought it for me in an auction for my birthday but won't tell me how much it cost or who she got it from but I've never seen one since.

    I dunno what to think.

Its either very good or very sad that your girlfriend can find rarer videogame items than you can.

Recently I found a Motorola Power QUICC II promo/engineering sample that I had forgotten about. Probably not very valuable, but I don't think there are too many of those

I remember the Ads in tv during Christmas season tons of years ago, with those "generic" games... Too bad I never saw one on sale on a shop.

I went over to a friend's yesterday and he showed me has near-mint boxed Famicom that he had signed by Masayuki Uemura (the system's designer) at the Tokyo Game Show last year, figure that's pretty rare :O

I'm not much of a collector anymore, but the only way anyone's getting my original model sheet pencil & inks from Grim Fandango would probably involve an epic gunfight.

yeah..signed stuff usually become very rare instantly, but in most of the cases they don't become much more pricey just because that. the same for my signed necromancer by h.r. giger, which certainly have to be unique in the world.

but the price issue is always depending on what a buyer is willing to pay for.

I have not. I wanted to ask him, but the Q&A wasn't much of an open forum. He's not a huge talker though (polar opposite of Mihara). I wouldn't say he's a recluse, just not very verbose. He was trying to explain the difficulties of putting 2D games on the PS2 (architecture that doesn't have sprites) and he was about to tangent off into God knows where and he just said... "well, the hardware doesn't have them" and kind of ended it.

I might have to bust out the loke test pops for this thread.
