Today i received my TOOL.
despite the shell not being as cosmetically pleasing as it should, I m trying to get it to work.
I only have one VGA-out however, and no PCI cards installed. what gives?

If you don't have the pci card, you're stuck with an useless machine(no ethernet, vga, kb and serial connectors).Originally Posted by Barc0de

it does have an Ethernet port (was it a server?) in one of the PCI slots, but no extra VGA.

Are there two tiny metal pieces screwed each side of the ethernet connector?
bingo! VGA revealed! what should I set the SW/TOOL + DVD/EMU swtich to? Also, how should I set the DIP switch on the back? (from left to right 0 being down and 1 being up)

Barc0de glad your unit arrived! I should have mentioned the 2 metal plates. I have the dip switch settings if you need them (I note Unclejun is on and he might be about to post them) but I'll need to get the unit out of the attic later on tonight - I am just about to set everything up in order to get the HDD updated.
Is the casing complete? If it's a bit dirty then look at the images I have taken and dismantle the unit accordingly. Mine looked like it had been dragged through the shit heap before I cleaned it off.

as first - try to see output and then you will be able to connect to it with http :) hope you have default user name and pass
I got my TOOL up and running, thanks to unclejun's help.
He took the time to baby-sit me through the whole procedure , step-by-step, although I m a total linux n00b!
It's an amazing piece of hardware and I think both me and Parris have been very lucky to find such good tech support here from unclejun, it's really a beast!
Compared to the TOOL, the GDEV is elementary in its options, and much more straight forward - not to mention lighter 5 kgrs versus 13 of the TOOL.

I too would like to thank Unclejun, who really has gone out of his way to assist me in particular. If site accolades were available like the Oscars, then my vote would be going his way this year as for the last few months he's walked, talked & joked his way through getting my PS2 Tool to the stage it's at.
The entire thing has been a learning curve for all of us.

Are you still needing the dipswitch settings or did Unclejun provide them?
P.S. I ran out of time tonight, it's almost 12 and I have set the desk up in the bedroom, sorted a pile of other things out and the PS2 Tool will have to wait until tomorrow now.
Got a call from my parents 2 big boxes have arrived. Woo hopefully my tools have arrived. Can wait till weekend to fly back home. <dances round room>

My 2 recently bought on YJ have been taxed at the french customs, I hate their way of calculating VAT....
Speaking of VAT charges, I just had to pay £21.33 VAT for a 12yr old PSx debugging station coming in from Canada! I couldn't believe it! :banghead:

They came from North Manchester and there travelling to.................. South Manchester. Will be bringing one over here to France with me.
VAT is a Twat, Ive been stung funnyly enough from stuff coming from Cananda. God knows how much stuff from china is guna cost me VAT wise.
