Dreamcast Keyboards from around the world

I recently won an auction for a cool german dreamcast and got a German Keyboard along with it.....I didn't think much of it until I checked out the keyboard and found that the Z and Y had been transposed - this is typical for a German keyboard, I know.

But it made me wonder how many different DC keyboards are out there?

Anyone know of different ones beyond?:

    UK standard keyboard
    US standard keyboard
    US SegaNet keyboard
    Japanese keyboard.

Now that you mention it Paulo, there's also the

    Pink Kitty Keyboard
    Blue Kitty Keyboard
    Black small/short Keyboard
    Divers keyboard
    Sakura Wars keyboard

I was thinking more along the lines of how many other country specific keyboards there were?

Well i guess there will be only a few regional differences in some countries...

back to my mini keyboard fetish i like the way they include that plastic board to stick over some keys u can take out. Umm might have to get on of these and mod them for my pc when i replace my white apple keyboard.

    UK standard keyboard
Hah, what's different about the UK keyboard? It has on "ou" button instead of an "o" button? And "s" instead if "z."

I was gonna mention the jap variants, e.g. kitty ones.

FYI, try typing £ on a US keyboard. Go on. Without looking up the ASCII code.

    ;)

    *sigh* here's a UK keyboard
(standard character followed by the shift character eg aA)

    1! 2" 3£ 4$ 5% 6^ 7& 8* 9( 0) -_ =+

    after P [{ ]}
    after L ;: '@ #~
    before Z \|
    after M ,< .> /?

as far as I remember, backslash is up by the P on a US keyboard. the @ symbol is on a number, the pound symbol is nowhere, hash is up on a number...... etc.

This might explain a bit better.... (its a SUN layout so some keys look a bit odd, but the main keypad is basically right)

The clear mini (is small) mouse is very nice. I have two too, one with Outtrigger box set and the other with the Ayanami Evangelion game (has the NERV logo).

It would be cool if anyone in their country was to say if they have a specific keyboard for their language/country that's different from the UK/US one...(I tried searching the web but not easy to find this info)

    So far we know:
    Japanese keyboard
    US Keyboard
    UK(English) Keyboard
    German keyboard

Well, the keyboard sold here has the spanish letter Ñ ñ at the right of the L and the Ç ç (used here too but for Catalan language). I don't know if the other euro keyboards have the Ñ or Ç.

    Fatalist,
Does the box that the keyboard came in have a white sticker on the underside on the bottom right hand corner saying SPANISH?

The UK one has 'UK' on the sticker and the German keyboard has 'GERMAN'.

A bit inconsitent of SEGA to use a country on one sticker and a language on another.....maybe because UK is the only English speaking country (national language) in Europe? (But Ireland's in Europe and is english speaking, so doesn't make sense). German could apply to Germany, Austria and Switzerland?

    my keyboard is something special?

I got my keyboard at a small chinese shop in canada for $30 including a mouse that has a extra button on the left side, that shop seems to have bought the keyboard at eb and sell it at his own shop. Haha, the set is now set below the computer monitor, (tricks people, my real pc keyboard is on the tray below :smt033 ) It has a black box, and is NTSC/U. The strange thing is that all the keys on the top row (f1, f2, esc, print screen...) are smaller (shorter). Which is kind of special. And the keyboard also has a black dreamcast sticker covering the usual place for the caps lock indicators. Strangely, there's also a euro sign on the "4", althought the box says it's a ntsc/U. What kind of keyboard do i have? Also i think, typing £, or the euro sign, depends on the software(browser) you have, not the keyboard.

    print screen?

What's the print screen key doing on a dc? And can I use ctrl-c to copy stuff on a dc? I can't highlight words on a page like this in any of the browsers.

Thanks Fatalist.....this trend suggests there should be Italian, Dutch etc. keyboards as well....wonder if the keyboards differ just by the lettering on the keys or if there's a ROM inside the keyboard?.....

    Anyone know how keyboards work?
