Help to Connect a SCSI Dev Unit to a Laptop

Has anyone been able to find either a USB > SCSI or PCMCIA > SCSI adapter that operates ok under Windows XP. I was hoping to use my Laptop as my host dev unit for my SN Systems GBA kit, but I've had a few problems finding an adapter that works.

I got an old (ish) one from ebay, but can't find any XP drivers, so it's just recognised as a generic mass-storage device. Because of that the ProDG software can't see the target GBA because it can't find the SCSI controller.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply Retro - 2 questions though.....
    1) Why not USB?
    2) Are the 2 suggestions you made proven to work with the GBA dev kit or are they just potential solutions?

    Thanks again

Not USB because there aren't any that will work on XP! Oh, and if your ports are USB (not USB2) and the device too, then surely you'll suffer a slow transfer rate?

They are a PCMCIA to SCSI adapter. They will allow a SCSI device to connect to a laptop. If it follows the SCSI standard, then sure, why not?

I haven't used one. I'm not mad enough to try connecting SCSI devices to a laptop!

Ha ha - I won a 1460 on ebay a couple of days back, just waiting for it to arrive in the post. Got it for £20 all in, which is a pretty decent price I reckon.

I'll give it a whirl and report back in case anyone else is "mad enough" to connect a scsi dev kit to their laptop ;-)

Thanks for all your help retro

I can now confirm that the 1460 PCMCIA > SCSI adapter works like a dream with the GBA Dev kit
