Thread: PS2 TEST question

    PS2 TEST question

I´ve tried to use a DVD-Video in a Test PS2 machine and it displays "DVD Player is not set up".
Does someone know if there is a setting up method for DVD-Video playing in these machines?

As far as I know test systems were never enabled for DVD playing that was retail only

Correct, the Test machines lack the decoding hardware to play DVD-Video.

...and why should they? It would waste time from testers.

Not so obvious. I have seen a beta in 3 discs: two master discs and a DVD-video disc.

we all know it's for cutting the royalty fees ;p
You can ask for any old woman
You can ask for an army of ants
You can ask for a pillar of poison
You can ask for sheep and shavers

    And you can die for

Yeah it was to reduce licence costs etc - although a lot of development firms produce DVD videos so it would have made sense to include it probably, although the cost would have outweighed the benefit I'd have thought.

Anyway the PS2 is a rubbish DVD player, don't waste the laser life on a movie! Heh heh!
