Goal: Get My Wii unit and launch games for free.

The Plan: Wait on line at midnight sale of ps3 mega event.
Retailer Circuit City has several stores with 100 Ps3 a piece.
The NYC times square store is GIVING AWAY 100 units.
Expect deaths.

The Goal: Attain PS3, sell in parking lot for $1000.
Purchase Wii on the 19th for $250 and two games.
($350 + tax). Buy gears of war with remaining money,
as well as a nice steak dinner.

Several people are going with me to the store. Each for the sole reason of selling the Ps3
for cold hard cash for whatever they desire.

I am fairly certain that project Wii for free will succeed, but wish me luck.

Sounds like a fun plan, but I recommend the following alterations.

Obtain PS3 in manner described, but do not sell in parking lot for $1,000. Sell on eBay for $2,000++.

In the meantime, use a credit card to buy the Wii, and pay the $2350 off the card when the PS3 auction ends.

Then you can buy your Wii, a nice steak dinner, GoW, AND about $1,200 worth of other neato crap (i.e. a PS3 in April when the prices are normal again).

You lose $2600 no thanks.

Throw in 50% chance of deadbeat bidder
/ ebay cancelling auctions that are exploitive.

Free is free, no need to be excessively greedy now.

Yesterday I got an email telling me the store I pre-ordered through is being allocated no units.So, on launch, I'll be shipped out 2 games and a set of Wii points, but no frickin' console!

I am going to go ahead and request that you take pictures of the insanity. You might want to watch your back, too. It's safe to assume that there will be some stupid people there doing whatever it takes to get a Playstation 3 (not "paying you $1,000" stupid, rather "clubbing you to death for your PS3" stupid).

I would suggest you to get a pair of big friends with you (if you have), and with big i mean really big - if you dont have big friends, hire two bodyguards, it will still be rentable in the end and upper the possibilities to grab one / maybe two ? PS3...
