If you guys are interested I'll post the PDS video, and some real early psx videos. Some real crude stuff, doesn't seem to have been released.

that be great assembler, but i''m curious, how come this isn't posted on the main site?
Because the main site requires a complete rebuild and hundreds of
hours of work.

If you can't host the PSX videos, send them to my Gmail account.Originally Posted by assembler

Whilst still looking through yet more tapes for the early Panzer Dragoon stuff I came across the Saturn version of Cybersled. Looks like Sony were waving their wads of cash about back then too so that other systems couldn't get the best of 3rd party titles. Cybersled and Ridge Racer were both in development for Saturn. I've yet to have ever seen anything of Saturn Ridge Racer but here are some Cybersled shots.
OK, so the top two shots are the same. I just couldn't decide which looked better :smt019
The version of Cybersled that these shots were taken from was only a rolling demo but it clearly shows that Namco were onboard as a Saturn games developer before someone waved their cash about or threatened them.
How about a bit of 32X action? Here are a few pictures from Wolverine and Batman Returns.
Yakumo
Wonder if wolverine uses the same enigine as that one x-men game that videogamesdepot use to have a beta copy of.

Well, as far as i know Yakumo, Ridge Racer was always going to be a PSX exclusive.
Cyber Sled, on the other hand, was not as succesful so Sony didn't care about exclusivity.
By the way, the Cyber Sled port for the PS1 is crappy. The original game wasn't that good anyways too. :smt040
PS: Yakumo, you will take all those tapes with you to Japan right? It would be amazing to see them captured by your PC, like you do with Dreamcast games.

This stuff is from 1994, real crude stuff. Doesn't seem to be released.
Cosmic Racer
Not named, 3d mecha, looks terrible in the moving video.
I have real early video of ridge racer. What is strange is that they name two versions of the game, with seperate spash screens for each and publish e.t.a.
Ridge racer
Ridge racer grand prix
I'm confused why they split it up like that. The ridge racer game had NO cars in it, it was just timed driving.
Video has stuff like cars with no tires, pop in/out on textures.
Very nice pics Yakumo! Keep they coming!!
PD
Performance reasons? Compare with the "high-spec demo" included with RR4.Originally Posted by assembler

My mate used to have this game. It was released and what a plie of steeming crap it was. It was some sort of racing game where you controlled a floting bike/car thing. It had the worst controls ever with the L & R buttons being left and right if I remember rightly. He also had another very early doom style game with cutie characters. Can't remember what that was called but that was crap too.Originally Posted by assembler
Yes, I will take the tapes to Japan with me but I have no idea if they will play in my Video recorder. The English Panasonic video players play NTSC but I have no idea if the Japanese Panasonic video players will play PAL tapes.PS: Yakumo, you will take all those tapes with you to Japan right? Yakumo
Probably won't play PAL. Multiregion DVD is pretty common, but multi-system VCRs are you don't get on accident.
Too bad your parents house does not have a video capture card, its easy to convert pal to ntsc on pc, as for vhs, is it possible that euro vcrs allow you to record in ntsc mode like newer pal tvs allow for ntsc mode?

Found some cool stuff on a old brazilian game magazine. The picture i took is from Ação Games. It mentions the entrance of Sony on the game market with the PS1. The magazine is from 1994.
On the pics you can see:
- Aquanote : The pic probably show the game or a CG running on a more powerful system. The actual game ended up being released as Aquanaut's Holiday, with normal PS1 graphics.
- Metal Jacket : On Gamefaqs it says as released on Japan only. Never heard of this game before.
- Poli Poli Circus Grand Prix: From the pics it looks to be a very early build of the released game Motortoon Grand Prix.
- Ora 194 : Very early build of the released game Philosoma.
- Ridge Racer : The pics seem to be from the arcade version.
- Artdink 4 : Probably ended up as A-Train, released only in US by Maxis.
Now, the translation of the text on the magazine:
Sony declares war against Nintendo
The Sony Executives from Japan, gave interviews criticizing Nintendo, Worldwide leader of games.
" The Playstation will provoke a revolution on the concept of videogame and it's prices. We are starting a digital war and the end of the Famicom era." affirmed to ED Magazine (connected to Sony), on the September edition. The ED brings an enormous news article on the Playstation.
Despite the provocation, Sony did not revealed the price of the console, that will probably be released in November in Japan. But softhouses Virgin and Asumikku affirms that it will cost about 300 dollars. If this is the price, it will be a war and we, the consumers, will end up winning. The price of the CD's of games, however, will probably not fall: it will be around the 100 dollars each. Check now some of the first games to be released. The ED listed 200 games in production for the Playstation.

"(...)A One World Government and one-unit monetary system, under permanent non-elected hereditary oligarchists who self-select from among their numbers in the form of a feudal system as it was in the Middle Ages. In this One World entity, population will be limited by restrictions on the number of children per family, diseases, wars, famines, until 1 billion people who are useful to the ruling class, in areas which will be strictly and clearly defined, remain as the total world population."
