Thread: Early Saturn Footage. with video, now early PSX footage.

Yeah, but System C-2 doesn't has a Z80, so it is less closer *in hardware* than the System 16 is to the Mega Drive. On the other hand, the System 16 has a Nec decoder. Hum...well, the Mega Play/Tech are closer to the Mega Drive than the System C-2/16.

The Genesis/MD is conciderably less powerful than the older System 16 even though the Genesis/MD was derived somewhat from the System 16. The Genesis/MD has about 2/3 the sprite pushing ability, 80 sprites instead of 128. Genesis/MD has far less color, 64 out of 512 instead of the System 16's 4096 out of 32768. the Genesis/MD also lacks the hardware zooming/scaling capability that System 16 had.

The System 16, with its far greater color capability, conciderably more sprite pushing power, decent hardware scaling, and faster CPU, compared to Genesis/MD, I think the System 16 rivals if not surpasses the SuperFami/SNES in many ways. although SuperFami/SNES had 4 background layers compared to the 2 in System 16 and Genesis/MD, and SuperFami had hardware rotation and other FX that System 16 didnt have. but System 16's 10 MHz 68000 probably balances things out with the SuperFami/SNES.

What videos? Do you mean the early Daytona video and Panzer Dragoon ones? If so then no. I never could find them. Nocomply who sometimes visits here may have a copy though. I remember making a few copies of the tapes and one may have went to him. I'll have to ask him.

Sorry, the videos are PAL so they won't play in my video recorder in Japan.

    Thanks a lot!

I hope someday i'll be able to get the Gran Turismo 2000 demo disc that was given on 2000 PlayStation Festival.

By the way, this video is even cooler, because if i'm not mistaken, it's the GT2 base code, using some stuff from the Emotion Engine to improve Graphics.

The demo disc i mentioned was already a brand new code, that in the end was released as Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec

    Don't torture me like that.

That GT2000 demo disc i mentioned is playable too. It's timed, but you can play it for 2 minutes or so.

Just to let you know, this track (on it's early build) it's Tokyo Route 246.

its been awhile since ive seen pics of gt2002, i remember the creator of the serise saying that this game was suppose to be a side game in the gt serise, but they decided to scrap it making gt3 instead. Still i wonder how far this version got into development.

I think you are confused. GT 2000 was the name for the first game of the GT series in the PS2. After long delays, the game would not be released in the year 2000, so they scrapped the name and named it GT 3: A-Spec. Yes, what started as GT2000 ended up being released as GT 3: A-Spec.

The GT2002 you mentioned is probably the series of "side games" called Gran Turismo Concept. There were 3 versions of it:

    - Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo (NTSC/J)

    - Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo - Seoul (NTSC/J)

    - Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo - Geneva (NTSC/J and PAL)

I actually ment 2000 but i got the dates mixed up, ut what your saying is true, but that game was a bit different form the final game, mostly in the graphical area, im curious to see if anyone has this beta in their posetion(refering to 2000 beta), anyone remember when they demoed this version of gt it was running on a prototype setup for ps2, which some journalist that caught a slight glance on the insided said it was mostly computers stacked on each other or something like that, cant exactly remember since it has been awhile. I have some old egms that show shots of gt2000 as well as tekkens first build on ps2.
