Flash cart dumping?

My friend has a flash cart with a TWINE beta on it. He wants me to dump it, however, I want to know if it's possible to dump flash carts first, incase I break it. I've already asked two people and they said it would work, but I'm asking here aswell just to be extra sure ^^

Flash chips work on the same principle as roms & eproms. However they tend to be surface mounted. Newer mask roms are surface mounted too, so you might be tooled up for those anyway.

It might be easier to use a cartridge backup device, but it's doable to dump them.
