How does the Katana works?

I'm quite intrested in gettin' a Katana system sometime, but how does it works?
I'm used to game development from before (GBA and some SDL) but I havn't worked with a "real" development kit.
Do you hook up the Katana system to another computer or do you hooking it up to a VGA monitor and programming on the Katana that way?
How do you testing the code?
Does somone maybe have some kind of "Getting started" guide about how to getting started with the Katana system or something so i can read about it? ;-)

Btw, i did see another Katana system on a Swedish auction site for around 90USD.
But, it doesn't start (maybe just a problem with the PSU?) and the GD Driver doesn't lock itself in posision. Does somone know if this is to things that's easy to repair and is it easy to get the software in another way?

You use your PC to write code and compile it.Then with the aid of some dedicated programs you can upload and debug your stuff...You also have gd rom emulation which is quite convenient...

My point of view...if you are not going to spend lots of time on it do not even bother with it...a simple dreamcast+broadband would be much cheaper and you can still use the official libraries...

I'm not trying to turn you down from using a Katana, but they are really picky on the subject (since creating and distributing games created on it is illegal without a license from Sega). If you want to someday create your games and share, then the other method is for you.
