I would like to buy a ps2 TEST that plays burned ps2 american games. I could care less about other functions.

What do you mean by ''burned'' american games?

Every TEST ps2 will play burned disks, assuming you know how to burn them right. That's the point of their exsistance.

Honestly, if you're looking to play pirated games (i'm not even going to pretend to say "backup" for this post) get a modded ps2. TEST's suck for burned games because you have to use a special patcher on the iso files in order to get them to boot. Even if you're a programmer, you'd be better off with a modded system as the requirements to get a homebrew game to play off of a TEST are draconian at best. If all you're doing is pirating, you're best off to just buy a copy of HDLoader and toss a 120 gig hard drive in.

If you're looking for a TEST to collect, then that's a different matter entirely.

Mabey he should put in a word filer, instead of something like fuck it would say fook, or instead of pirated, it would say "backup" (with quotes)

Both reasons I am trying to start a collection this is the first thing I am trying to tackle
As for anything of this nature what should I try to get first?

I would recomend just reading through all of the posts here so you have a basic understanding of what each dev system is capable of. Then, if you're still interested in buying, i'd look at the PS1 debugger. There are plenty of people around here who can sell you one for a decent price. You'd be spending a minimum of $300 on a TEST ps2, while you could find a ps1 debugger anywhere from $50-80. Before you buy anything, make sure you know what you're getting as there are a lot of dev systems that can't play retail games at all.
