View Full Version : Star Fox 2 Rom flashing onto SNES cart

Just how possible would it be to take the ROM of the unreleased Star Fox 2 and either manually "construct" it into a game using the right chips OR flash it to a flash cart. Which one is easier if at all possible?

The only problem I can think of is the Super FX 2 chip. Anything on this?

I ask this not because I'm ready to tool away at it now, but in some future when I have the knowledge to, I'll start hacking away.

It's relatively easy. Just find a donor cart with the right FX chip on it, remove the ROMs, flash matching EEPROMs and install them in the cart.

youd have to use an fx 2 game, such as yoshis iland and replace the rom chip, as for it being easy, there is a guide out there on google, needless to say it deosnt appear that easy to me, since ti does require you to use a ribbion cable and solder to the corresponing pins to the board.

Hell yeah. It may be difficult and time consuming.. Not to mention expensive. But if not for the joy then what else?

You wouldn't happen to have the link to these instructions? If you don't, then don't look for it if it's too much to go look through. I know how it is finding those rare pages sometimes.

It would be great if you were able to flash the game onto a cart. Running the game on the actual hardware might reveal a few secrets that could not have been viewed while running the game on an emulator. I would say to go for it :thumbsup:!

Ah, i figured that had to be the page of somebody here. I've always wanted to do that. I'm alright with a soldering iron, but I have no access to an EEPROM burner.

Someone needs to start a services where they burn the EEPROM and burn it if we supply the cart :P lol.

Hey, d4s.. Do you happen to have a direct link to the $35 EPROM programmer listed on your SF2 beta page? For some reason, it's not listed on the site linked. In fact, the site linked redirects to another.
