View Full Version : Twelve Tales: Conker 64
The 8th Commandment

Did anyone ever find a copy of the original Conker game? I am really interested in it and am looking for a copy, and I'm willing to choke out a good price for it as well.
An early ECTS version is known to exist in a collector's hands.
If there are other copies I'm sure someone just doesn't want people to know. But, oh well. If anyone is willing to share info about it then I'd be interested.

Nope, it still eludes the community. I've been trying to find out the final build date of the game before it switched directions (it's proving difficult), so that if a copy ever is found well know how close to the final version it is. I think im getting close to finding out that much, but getting an actual cart is going to be borderline imposible (seeing as how n64 flash carts were often overwritten by devs while a game was in development, as opposed to being stored and using another for fututre builds).

This would certainly be an interesting game to see (imho) since it was so different than the released version. I would guess our only hope would be a magazine/website reviewer that managed to keep their copy of it. That or a member of the dev team that "forgot" to return a copy. But that is doubtful.
Anyone find any screenshots of it? I searched a couple of website reviews but found none. Maybe I'll look more tomorrow.

Screens of a preview cart you mean? or screens of the game in action (if so, their are many arround the net, as well as 6+ videos)

you know its odd, but i remember when they asked them about if there was anything they cut, one of the developers said that there was a version they developed that would never be released to teh public and that was it. Could this version possibly be a mixture of the old game and the current one we got, as well i must admit it was the most shocking overhaul ever for a game, i didnt belive it when i read it, adn now that i think of it its still hard to belive.

Well I meant of the game in action, but in hindsight that was a really dumb question of me. I was just judging from the 2 sites I'd read and hadn't bothered to google it yet... early morning laziness

Wasn't conker originally going to be a Super Nintendo platformer or was that Mr Nuts by Ocean which was shite when I saw it.

I have some prototype pictures in one of my magainzes that I could post later today if you are interested. Also in one of my promotional tapes (http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5810), there is footage when they show a 10 second scene from the game, although I do not have any video capturing devices...

Bad fur day is really a heavily edited/modified verson of 12 tales. I'm assuming if you hack it with a gameshark pro, you might find code, items, etc. that are from the 12 tales build.
Other than that, good luck finding it. The reason they canned it was because it would be like banjo kazooie but with a squirrel instead.

I've never heard of Conker being a SNES games, but it's possible. Mr. Nutz was released, there was a Gameboy version, too, I think and actually it was on the Amiga first. It's not a horrible game, just an uninspired platformer. There was quite a few of those at around that same time, of course.

Plus, there's just something about a game called 'Mr. Nutz'...

Here's what I could to for you:
If someone could help me upload the video to their public FTP for anyone to view, that would be great. It's 39MB (1 min 27 sec MPEG) in size, and includes brief previews of each game. BTW, it's one of the worst video capturing one could do, but that's all I could do .
Here's the magazine cover that I retrieved the pictures from:

There was a Gameboy Color version of Conkers 12 Tales.

I have Conker's Pocket Tales (GBC) and it's mediocre to say the least. It is still in question as to how much of it is based on the original N64 Conker title.

Mr nutz was not at all related to conker, however many magazines cited the similaritieis.

Here's the clip segment from my 39MB file. As I stated before, the quality is horrible, I apologize for that.

The IGN ones should work without being an Insider, at least they did for me, just to let you guys know.

The other site I tried only corrupted the file, but google came to my rescue!
Again, sorry for the poor video quality.

Nah, don't bother, I have the vid somewhere on my desktop. Someday if I buy a Video Capture card, I'll record the entire VHS and upload it to the FTP.

I wonder how well the game would have done had it not changed directions at such a break neck speed...
