Thought you guys and gals making game videos for sharing on the net might appreciate this. DivX is giving away its DivX Create bundle for free, today only. All you need is an email address. Enter your email and the company sends you a full version serial number.

Personally, I think DivX Create isn't as good as Dr. DivX was, but it does come with the Pro version of the DivX 6 codec. And free is good.

I tried that h.264 and found it to be VERY slow.

Thanks for the heads up.

I dunno what the hell I'm ever going to use this for, but it's still a sweet deal.

I'd like to get something set up that would allow me to capture video from my N64 emulation though....not that I really know what I would do with it.

I bought Dr. Divx and I still find it useful to me.

Yakumoslow = good. you wont get good quality with 1 pass yakumo :), but yeah, after h.264 i prefer xvid, is faster than divx and about the same, but 2 passes ;)...btw... isnt this suposed to be under offtopic?

Isn't h.264 designed for a much higher bit rate than DivX/XviD? I'm completely ignorant about h.264, but if anything is better than Xvid, I gotta try it.

Just download the free, better XviD. IT baffles me why people would want to pay for a second rate codec.

i also prefer XViD, but why not try that DivX freebie?

Tonynot really, it has higher compression, so if you do 2 passes at 500kbps it will look just like a divx/xvid with 1000kbps bitrate, "we are talkin 640x480" and it looks better than divx/xvid, more detail in the video , just look at umd video and the videos on your psp games ;) h.264 goodness.

there's x264 as well, but I also don't know too much about them - I'm still living in the land of Pentium 3's that can barely even play full-size DivX/XviD!

I mainly just use XviD, along with the magical free magicness of GordianKnot, VirtualDub, and AviSynth.
