arg... anyone just anyone give me a way to work out the broadcast address on a network... the one ive been told is...

To find the broadcast address a line is drawn down where the used subnet mask bits end. All the remaining bits should then be changed to 1’s as to reveal the broadcast address...

Correct??? or not????

e.g. im trying tow rok out the broadcast address for a class C network and im getting like 192.109.83.15?! Using that method....

You need to know your Gateway IP... then its easy to work out....

usually, e.g. if your Gateway is 111.222.33.1 then your boradcast address is 111.222.33.0

think this makes sense... but I'm trying to keep my eyes open!

I think what Retro said was right. To test it, ping the broadcast address -- you should get a reply from every host on the network.
