I wondered how many of you guy's used the Dolphin PC emu in anger?

...I noticed there's one of these for sale by 'Shiggsy' on ebay at the moment and that kind of triggered my memory banks!!!

Anyway it's a useful piece of kit, It was developed around the late 90's/2000 period as a sort of intro to GC Dev, prior/at the launch of early Dev Kit release.

...It's cool 'cos it's official and it lets you use a P.C to basically emulate a GC.

I've never done anything really useful with it mainly 'cos I could run the final HW in preferance, in fact I've played with it more tonight than I did when it originally came out, hence why I'm keen to learn what anyone else achieved with it?

Here's a screen cap I just took whilst playing with many of the interactive demo's, just 2 minutes ago:

Here's what the disc looks like:

Thats pretty interesting.

How much do you think the disk will reach on ebay, and how hard is it to find one?

Yeah I know. I've been watching it since he first listed it. I just didn't know if I should bother trying since I'm fairly low on cash at the moment.

Well ill probably bid on it near the end, assuming it doesn't get too crazy price wise. Emus can be alot of fun sometimes for messing with games graphical settings and seeing whats hidden from the player under normal circumstances.

But what do you mean oldengineer when you ask if anyones used the emu "in anger"? Is it difficult to get working properly?

I mean 'in anger' as-in using it in place of proper HW on a serious Dev Project, it's very easyyyy to use as-is, work's a treat, you can even port stuff from it to SDK 1.0, it's that tight :-)

...Btw I'm also keen to see how much the ebay disc makes 'cos, not for the cash, but I have a few spare disc's myself, if anyone want's one shoot me a list with Xbox / GC related items in trade, anything considered.

Hey, that looks like it could be fun to mess with.

Just how easy is it to use? I know only some basics with programming but have always been interested in 3d animation stuff.

Well like I said earlier if any of you guys aren't lucky enough to win the disc on eBay give us a shout as I have several spares available.

...Btw, just for your information the directory structure of the pcemu is just like a regular GC SDK, it has all the technical doc's and bit's and pieces that you could ever need :)

Is it just like early dolphin demo or it is possible to develop a full game testing it with that pc dolphin emulator ?

If it works like the equivalent dreamcast one, then no. You almost certainly compile your code for x86 and link against special versions of the libraries which interface to windows. GC uses OpenGL so it's not going to be too hard.

If it was good enough to run retail games then it would have been heavily wared by now.
