Is that what this is about? I've never had an "overheating" problem with mine. I consider something to overheat when it gets hot to the point it shuts itself off. My PSTwo gets warm to the touch, but nothing bad.

Then again, I believe mine was manufactured this year. I guess I'll see when I get home.

the us ps2 site has a FAQ..

Q: What is the issue with the PlayStation®2 Computer Entertainment Systems AC Adaptor?
A: Sony Computer Entertainment America has received reports that certain AC adaptors included with some slim version PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems have overheated. Not all PlayStation®2 systems are affected.

Q: What are the safety concerns/risks? / What is the cause of this problem?
A: In the incidents reported, AC adaptors generated unexpected amounts of heat, and sometimes emitted smoke or odors, or melted their plastic housing. Such situations may pose burn or fire hazards, or possibly a risk of electrical shock.

pretty much the same thing as the xbox, except this is external and can cause more damage than smoking the inside of your xbox.

Geez, you'd think it wouldn't be too hard to figure this stuff out before final products ship. I guess the big names are always in such a hurry to get the product out. Because you know, that's more important than our safety...

This applies to PStwo's outside Europe? Should owners of american PStwos order?

That would explain it, then. I never visit the official Playstation site :).

Largely Europe apparently, but also some US and Asian models are affected.

well I'd rather get recall info that may affect me from the official source than some side site made for europeans. From what I remember, they admit to more hazzards than MS ever did, for basically the same issue.

How do you know what they have said is totaly true? For all you know it could burn your house down at any moment now.

Well it was mentioned on BBC news online, and they linked to that site - being a UK based corporation, they linked to the european one!

it'd worse SONY may send you replacement AC in 110 VAc O_o

M$ sent me 110 VAC replacement code and obvioulsy it'd be far more dangerous than using the old one on our 240 VAC line.. :p

Recieved mine. Assembler/borman, they are multi voltage, so if you can find someone in europe willing to send you one then you are in business. it is expected that you return it though, Not sure if sony would do anything if you didn't.

ASSEMbler, the qualifying info (at least in the UK is)....

There's a certain 2 letter code at the beginning (HP I think) and the month is from August 04 to December 04.
