So this is the "next-gen" Sonic announcement that was made?
I need more screens, as I can't get enough of an opinion with the renders/screenshots on the link, but I'm thinking it has potential. Still, though, Sonic would look better Cel-Shaded than in "realistic" 3D... being in a cartoon setting, and all. Not that it's been done since Sonic Shuffle, though.
The screens don't look that bad. And it's coming for both PS3 and X360 - good news for anyone that's actually getting a PS3.

I hope this Sonic isn't super kid-ified like the first Adventure title. I almost wish they just would have stuck with 2D. But this one definately looks like it has potential.

i like the idea that sega is going for a more "down to earth" sonic, but i hope we get really unique and graphically diverse worlds, i would hate to be speeding around in the same "metal enemy/tree world"

I want only three things from a sonic game:

1. Lots of speed
2. Camera that won't get me killed repeatedly (the game should be difficult for other reasons)
3. No obvious and annoying glitches (I have to bring this one up after 'Sonic Heroes')

I'd love to see a sonic game as dark as the onld SatAM cartoon, and at the rate their going with the franchise (Shadows game) something similar might happen at some point in the not too distant future :)

While I enjoy the adventure games I really wish they WOULD Have kept him 2D. Sonic is just one of those properties that doesn't translate well into 3D in my opinion. Sonic Team is keeping me happy though with the GBA Sonics and the upcoming Sonic Rush for the DS. DROOOL :D~~~~~~~

I love those types of levels.

Count me as part of the "keep it simple, stupid" formula people. I liked the Sonic Adventure games, but I would rather them go back to the original style.

because Sega has just officially confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog will be rolling onto PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sega has done some dumb shit, but they're not dumb enough to make this a 360 exclusive.

Sega's a Japanese company. The chances of them putting a landmark franchise that sells well in Japan on the 360 is... close to zero.

Ahhh, that's a classic. I even got the game on my PSP just to play that level :D...

I dunno why I prefer the 3D Sonic layout than the 2D. The only 3D I actually liked was Sonic Adventure, the rest were alright to me. More 2D wouldn't hurt :).
