I'm looking to get another stick of ram. You dont have to have the same type right? Both sticks just need to be the same size (512MB in this case) right?

More information please. What processor and motherboard do you have? Generally speaking though, they should be the same speed (or the second faster usually works okay). For dual channel motherboards, they should be the same size, speed, and ideally have the same timings.

Mobo: MSI MS-6712
CPU: AMD Athlon 2400+ XP I believe

Have you taken a look at www.crucial.com 's memory finder? Normally a pretty good choice. Anyway, RAM is pretty pricey at the moment, You may want to wait a while until it goes down a bit

Well I'm not paying :D

After searching on old message boards (detective style!) I found out I have:

512MB Kingston ram (KVR266X64C25/512)

Then you'll just want another stick of pc 2100 RAM, which should be identical. You could even get the same module probably

YOu can get that module for $50 on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144001&ATT=Memory+System+Memory&CMP=OTC-d3alt1me

Crucial charges brick and mortar prices.

It's easy to install too right? You just kinda insert it?

Very easy. There's only one way it can go in, and the retention clips will firmly pop into place when it's been done correctly.

Well I've plugged in stuff on the mobo before (my enthernet adapter) and even installed a HD, so there should be no surprises I guess. Thanks for all the help guys.

You shouldn't *need* identical sizes, although identical types (PC2X00 or the like) would probably be a good idea. I just added a 512 PC2700 alongside my 256 stick - works like a charm.
