Hello, again. :) As I mentioned before, I was recommended to this site by a good friend of mine Rosary. I'm very interested in obtaining a CD-ROM64 backup unit (aka CD64). Does anyone know where I might get one (either for trade or money)?
Many thanks to all who help, :-D

If you want one for money, I can source both CD64 and CD64+? CD64 is $120-150, + is $150. Both are 256m. You might have luck contacting their official retailer Success, give them a highball offer and they might have one they can restock for you. Theirs will be a brand new CD64+ for $130+

Thanks a load. :-) Do you know the major differences between the CD64 and CD64+?

I don't exactly know, I have neither of them. I know that the original CD64 is solid black, that the PCB can be modified to 256m but will not support regular 256M S/DIMMs off the bat, most likely it will have an older BIOS and 128M RAM. The CD64+ on the other hand probably has a cleaner more efficient (cheap :p) PCB but supports 256M and comes with 256M and will have the latest BIOS. The CD64+ case is sort of transparent black.

OK, thanks again. :) Sounds like the CD64+ would be a better choice.
Then again, does anybody know if the "Docter v64" or "Mr. Backup z64" would work better than the CD64+? Which is the best (and perhaps cheapest ;-) ) out of 'em?
As always, thanQ for the help, :smt023

Everyone seems to like Z64 best, I only know of one place (which might be sold out now) that sold new Z64s without a zip drive for $400 us. I prefer V64s which are probably the most common with CD64+s and are in similar price ranges. I think with some searching you can get a V64/CD64 256m for around us$100-200.

I can get a Z64 without ZIP cheaper than $400... more like $300

www.z64.co.uk appears to still have them. 199GBP is $360. The other source I knew of was I believe a German site. The problem with Z64s is that they were barely sold in Hong Kong or even in Taiwan, the only people with them is western collectors who'd sell their dog over their copier.

www.interesting-devices.com - £149 would be less :P

Christ, shipping to the US would make it over $400.

Calm down, guys--I'm going for a V64/CD64+ here. :smt033
(Btw, does that mean the V64 would be an addon for the CD64+ or what?)

You can use a V64 or CD64, they go in the same space.

Not for a deal for Hong Kong. Is that shop perhaps New Tai Sing Co (Golden Shopping Center in Kowloon)? They're notoriously expensive.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't go for that price for those items. :-\
If you need N64 ROMs, I'd be happy to burn whatever ones you want and send 'em to you-- provided you pay for the blank CDs and shipping (I have a complete set of every [!] and [PD] ROM). Don't spend any extra money on that. Plus, an N64 wouldn't be too expensive to get at some other random used game store. I'm actually going to get what I need through a friend of a friend who lives in Hong Kong, or another friend of my friend who lives in Taiwan, so... either way. lol.
But, at any rate, thanks guys. :-D

Crystals can be found for slightly more. I believe LikSang carries both of them but for a much higher price. Its quite easy for Americans to get things through places like NCS etc.
