well, they still removed that useles analog button and replaced the cheap looking select and start buttons made from recycled tires. Am i the only one wondering what this ''eye'' in the middle of the controller is? a rolling ball?

I didn't think Sony could actually make a console any uglier than the PS2, but I guess I was wrong. The controller is actually worse than the dual shock. I hate the design so much, I don't even think I'm going to buy one.

i personally likes the ps2 look alot, but i must agree that the ps3 is ugly though.
the point of view i like the best for this system is the rear picture, really.

Boy, is that controller ugly.

Doesn't look comfy either. The console will be ugly and expensive. Either they have a killer app... or this might be a hard console to sell.
I might be wrong, though... still, and to quote Star Wars.... "I have a BAAAD feeling about this"

Let's hope it doesn't make them change it. We need some fresh air in the games industry. It's getting Dull with the top ten games consisting mostly of PS games.

Here's the short version I got from skimming a Japanese article. Wish I would've known someone translated the whole thing.



Sony had a big "PS3 is tha bomb!" meeting in Tokyo. Here are the highlights:

-PS3 will be good
-PS3 will open new worlds for games as the PSX did with 3D 11 years ago.
-A lot of the same stuff said at E3 (it's like a hollywood movie, blah blah)
-Games will take a long time to make, so they've bought some company in the UK dev company called SN Systems, and have a license w/ an American company that's got mad skills at re-using techniques. This will allow them to make an environment that's "easy to make games"
-PSP will have an internet browser released on 07.27... just gotta udpate the firmware.
-Internet TV also availalble as of 07.27. Just download it to a memory stick.
-Etc

Multifunctional consoles today are like Home PC Conversions were in the 1980s - the way to trick consumers into thinking their console is more than a games machine.

In the end, doing this will fail at the multifunction component (because there are dedicated machines for that), and the console component (because the system is not primarilly a games machine) - and we'll have another Coleco ADAM or Mattel Aquarius on the horizon.

Well they said it is going to cost alot. ($399usd) I am going to wait on the ps3 until the 1st or 2nd price drop. So no ps3 for me until 2007 or 2008. If you think about it all games are multi-ports so one system are another is really the same. So no big lose other than GT8 and maybe another Final fantasy 89.

Exactly, a video game console should be made for one thing, and one thing only, and that's to play video games. I don't even want my systems to play DVD's. Also, if a company is going to make a video game console, at least make it look like a console. I'm afraid all of the new systems are a far cry from the good old fashion design. While I am quite pleased with the GC and XBOX, as they both have a console look to them, I can't stand any of the next gen stuff. My favorite console design has to be the Saturn, with the DC coming in a close second. Another thing that annoys me is that if a company is going to make a system with optical media, please make it flip-top, another thing I liked about the GC.

Personally, I think the PS2 was a MAJOR step down from the PSX. I loved the design of the PSX, but Sony's love for making a "media device" instead of a games machine has had, I think, a major impact on their designs. They are trying to move away from the old fashion console design, as if they are trying to disassociate themselves from video games, which is one reason I hate Sony.

it just can't look like that. Just look at the animations, that's just impossible and way too complex to be in real time. Every animations are so detailed and fit so well with the backround and precise moment that it just can't be made. You've never say two things, two moves, that looked the same. you've never heard the same thing twice,...

Thats what i said, the whole thing makes Savin private ryan look like a B movie.

I cant say its impossible (GoW was impossible only 2 years ago) but we are still far away from seeing something like killzone E3. The colission codes would need a separated phisics engine, let alone a PPU to help with the particles :smt067

But games can be ported to either system with out much loss or gain.
I want a game made for the xbox359 or the ps2.9 so it can take full advantage of the system.
