You think there would be thousands of these around.
Any ideas why we don't see spindles of them on ebay?

How often do you see Mega CD-Rs? People horde them.

I'd love to have some GD-Rs myself. I don't know why, I just would.

people probably used them as normal cdrs

GD-r's are not usable in the home. So office take-homes would
be of no use.

Anyone run a gd-r into a cd drive and do the manufacturer info?

Maybe we can contact the maker and see if they have any.

You've got an good point. Maybe the 'supplyer' of some of the boardmembers has more then the spindel he sold to legit? (or maybe he can supply more, I would love to have a bunch of GDRs aswell)

But still it's strange indeed that we don't see them that offtenly for sale. maybe the devloppers had to pay bigbucks for the discs? so they never bought allot of them?

Hell i would never use WU! Horrible horrible way to deal...

You got a good deal tho... You would be able to sell them for $10 each at least... make back $500 if not more... Not that you would want to but if something nice comes along and you need quick cash. Im sure we on the board would buy one if not two each! lol

worked it out to roughly $4 per GD-R i paid lol thats pretty much bugger all.

Im soooooo tempted toopen the spindle even more tepted to burn some crap on em but then the collector inside is saying keep em safe n sealed theyre worth more hehe. I fear 1 day i may surrender and break the seal :)

I dont think i owuld sell them though! everyone's collection has to have something super special to make it stand out and 50 of them most definitely does make up for my lack of hardware or software!

What's stopping you poping them open, burning a few Half Lifes and retiring? Also, wait a few weeks and you can sell PA too LOL. Serious question though, why don't people burn GD-r?

No one has them to burn and if you do its pretty useless when you can burn cdrom... cheap and able to have as many errors as possible!

Also you would want to keep your cds lovely and new! Like legit!

I would burn GD-R If iknew for definite i could get more! :weedman:

However, even if i did find more id still rather listen to the collector thoughs and keep em sealed and burn on my newly acquired stuff :Hangman:

only problem is i need to find more before i am 100% willing to burn anything - and it wouldnt be right to burn 'fake' copies of games onto GD-R and sell em on (even worse writing in cd pen pA on the gd-r and selling the blank LOL)

If you did have a blank and soemthign you wanted burning on it like a homebrew id be happy to burn it forppl though :supz:

If you must burn something, don't burn a home made demo, burn something official. (Propeller Arena?) In the world of collecting "RARE NR NFS Propeller Arena Prototype GD-R" > blank GD-R.

Wyte mentioned that when you copy GD-Rs you copy a loada errors... guess you need the original source code to do it.

Definately exists, I had it once. Most probibally from some one from this board. Anyway, wasn't most DC work done on the dev box HD? Maybe GD-rs just weren't massed produced to the extent that every one expects...

Tony

LeGIt

That is possible - The GD technology seemed to have been invented around 1997 so I guess discs would have been expensive. (1996 5x Saturn CD-Rs were like $75...) The dev Box HDD (GD-M) has the capability to emulate the GD Drive as images could be compiled with GD workshop to be tested - and many GD-Rs knocking about seem to be final or close to final builds of stuff which would suggest they were highly expensive (i think it was $650 for a spindle) but also only used as & when there was no other possible way to distribute the code such as for reviews. I guess there really isn't manyof them floating baout, which naturally makes me feel incredibly lucky :smt040
