Per nintendo..

"gateway is one palyer only. Multiplayer options are not supported on the gateway 64SRam is used as a temporary storage media only in the gatway 64 system. The gateway 64 system uses dram as a game program memory rather than the mask rom used in the N64. When a guest finishes the game play, the dram is purged"

So basically, theres a server somewhere with the game images on, and each time a guest orders a game, it's sent to the system to be executed locally?

How big is the dram for storing games?

heres the thread from aaaaages ago when it was being discussed:

Yep, I see them, along with PS1 versions in hotels pretty often. Can you actually get it to run games though?

Just arrived last night so have not had a chance to try. ALthough I am pretty confident it will since I know who sold it to me and what work he has done in game programming.

I am damn curious how the PSX versions work... N64 can be romulated rather easily using SRAM (as mentioned above) but how would that work on the PSX....

Amazing, there really was a N64 system designed to work behind those Lodgenet systems. I wonder where the system itself was located, though - I never ran into anything that looked even close to large enough to hold ~70 of those things. I wonder if the units were contained inside the television sets - if I remember correctly, they were all a certain brand of Zenith TV.

The PSX versions actually run all the way back to an equipment cage filled with PSX units with games. Silly as it sounds, when playing those you are really playing on a standard unit with a set of really long cords. The authentication interface sits between you and PSX and basically makes the proper conenctions after you've been billed.

It looks like a standard n64 board with the special cartridge on top of it, I wish I could compare them side by side.

Is that port lan or rj11?

Ah, interesting. I thought they would've accomplished it in a somewhat more leet fashion (perhaps finally some first-party use of the expansion connector) but alas.

The controller connects to a black box via a rj-11 plug. The black box is connected with a plug similar to a microphone plug. There is also another rj-11 plug on the top board.
