Does anybody know how to fix this?? (PSX Debug unit, DTL-H1001, is broken)

My PSX Debug unit, DTL-H1001, is broken.


At first I thought it was because of a dead laser unit. When I put one that works into the system, it still wouldn't boot. The laser unit is fine, but the CD spindle motor doesnt spin. HOwever, the whole unit works fine on a retail system. I'm thinking the spindle isn't getting any power. My question is, how can I fix this?


Again, the laser module, and the laser motor spindle works, but the CD Spindle won't work. I'm thinking that it isn't getting any power. Sometime it will spin, but it would spin counter-clockwise for a little bit, then stop completely.

Well I fiddled around with the FBIAS and FGAIN and this other variable resistor next to the power cable that goes to the motors. I got the motor spinning but still won't show the Playstation logo, it goes directly to the memory / CD player menu. I know it isnt a burnt laser cuz the laser unit works on another psx system. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff that can possibly give me some tips as to what to do?

Ok. I kept messing with the pots on the board. I got as far as the PSX logo but then it just stops. It all a matter of just turning them lil by lil until I get the game to fully boot.

Hmm, the pots can be damaged (happens pretty easily), or some other dodgy connection. I had EXACTLY the same symptoms with my modded PSone until I removed the modchip.
