How many times can people who have been to Japan say that they've had an entire train to themself? Probably 0 but I did today :D

:smt082 They might as well be they're that slow. Sometimes we're lucky and get a modern train that's come over from JR Kita Kyushu but most of the time we're stuck with what look like trains from the 60's. At least they are clean and air conditioned.

I would comment on how crappy the trains are here, but they've got new ones recently and I haven't taken one in like 5 years. Back then people could still smoke on some of the carriages! Now it's illegal to smoke in any place of work or public transport - even pubs, which *somehow* people have learnt to live with...

Isn't there some blag for pubs whereby if a room has only 2 walls (the rest being glass panels presumably) it's considered "outside" and so people can smoke there? Ever seen it?

No, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone did try to pull off some shit like that. Most pubs here now have "beer gardens", i.e. just some patio chairs and those outdoor gas heater dealies stuck around the back.

Man... sweet. What time was that? I've caught the first train on Sunday mornings in Tokyo and it's not that empty.

Heh... got to say, the idea of not being able to smoke in a pub depresses me... I can see it from both sides though.

I know Japan is highly populated so that must be rare.
The reason I'm posting in this topic though is because you said you took that picture with a phone? If that's the case then your camera on your phone must be really good.

Provided you can hold still, most newer camera phones do a great job. Mine is OK, but I can't hold my hands steady (I have WAY too high of a caffine intake), so I wish it had a faster shutter speed. With me shaking pretty violently, heres the result of some photos from my phone.

I don't mean to be nasty here but thise pictures are pretty bad quality. Something along the lines of the new Nokia which I tested before I bought my Sharp. The pictures my phone takes are just as good as a real 2.2 mega pixel digital camera. If I was to post a full sized picture on the boards it would be far too big. The zoom on it is also a real one, not that digital crap which makes things go blocky. Here are a few pictures that I took with my phone of my new car that came today :) (The original picture size was 1280x960)

In addition to being ahead in cell phone camera technology, the Japanese are also ahead in automotive megacuteness.

you forget the USA is about a year behind in cell phone technology compared to the rest of the world... we JUST got Nokia 3660s here... Nokia europe discontinued them some time ago... not to mention my hand CAN'T hold still, I think those are pretty good for the low shutter speed I get, but that being the highest resolution image it can produce as well... While not GREAT, its got the best quality i've seenout there, even tops Motorlas tricked out phone (if someone can hold their hand still that is)

Bangin' motor! I'd prefer a Daihatsu Naked, though (mainly cuz of the stupid name ^_^). What Mitsubishi is that by the way? We only get the Suzuki Wagon R, Alto, and the Daihatsu Charade over here, I think.

Mine is the new style Mitsubishi EK Wagon (released about 2 months ago) I'm not a fan of Daihatsu's MOVE but I do like the Terios Kid which I think they stopped producing. Suzuki's Wagon R is far too common that it's come to the point where every other wagon you see is one and they are always driven by nobs or dumb women. The other small wagon is the Honda Life. Wouldn't drive that if you paid me. Womans car if ever there was one.
