From the looks of the FDD, and its use of the expansion port, it appears that the Mega CD could have had a cousin, Mega FDD. Perrhaps a device of the Famicom disk system type. Keyboard would have been for a BBS network if Sega ever got that up and going. Remember the Mega Modem? Sega wouldn't have released that solely for Tel Tel Mahjong.

I'll add a picture (Sega artist's concept) of Sega's prototype "Mark 5" console tomorrow. It would have had a built in LCD screen. This was planned before the Mega Drive.

Can't have both the Mega CD and Floppy, they use the same expansion port :)

Ah loooks cool! Wonder what this other one you are talking about will look like! :-)

Also there must be so many pictures and things we havent seen because back in the day there wasnt much of a internet so everything was in mags and not all of us keep them/ were even interested to this extent back then.

I think the MegaCD supplanted the FDD... some old devdoc (the famous SEGA2.DOC) has some info on the FDD and nothing about the MegaCD... my guess is that at one point Sega decided it better to push on with a CD-based addon.

By 1991 I'm sure Sega realized 12M (floppy size) isn't all that much.

Good point. Maybe because the PC Engine CD-Rom add-on was making sucess, Sega decided to go for CD instead of Floppy disks.
