Hello there i recently got one of the ED62 v2 carts, and got a 7105 chip out of a Zelda Ocarina of time cart.
But the screen just blanks out, now I`ve gone trough a whole bunch of topics but i cant seem to find the awnser.
But will it even work wit a 7105 in it or do i really need a 7501 for my pal console? And where to get one of those chips (Mario64 carts?) Please advice

you should close jumper on back side of cart if you want to use 6105/7105. but anyway 7105 is bad idea, cuz you will get one game which will start working (banjo tooie) but lot of other games stop working

Noted, in that case ill get an old mario64 cart that seems to have the 7101, already desolderd the 7105 from the ED64

If you really want Banjo Tooie to work, you could try some of the ideas in this thread. All thought up by me. The dual CIC idea is untested so be careful if you try it.

I was looking at that one and that is doable, but nah to much hassle for 1 game tbh ;) but composit output is horrible on a plasma tv with the n64 :p my old NES gives a better image hehe, o well i got an s-video cable of ebay lets see how that works (I`ll prolly have to mod it)

If you're using a European TV with SCART you could do the classic RGB mod to it assuming you have a revision 4 or earlier model. If the plasma doesn't have SCART, it should have VGA and converting RGB to VGA is fairly easy and simple. If the plasma doesn't even have VGA, it should have component vid and you can use a RGB to component converter to get good video quality. If N64 is a revision 5 or later, well your SOL and will have to settle for S-vid. S-vid is pretty good as is and should be good enough quality unless you're very particular on that (like me).

If you RGB mod your Nintendo 64 it won't display 640x480 resolution pictures correctly. The ED64 menu uses 640x480 and the only way around that is to use OS 1.13 or lower.
You can RGB mod consoles with a motherboard over NUS-CPU-04, but it is more complicated as it involves building a replacement DAC chip.

Hence why I ignored them.

I was considering building a few of those replacement dacs on a proper PCB with surface mount parts. Dont know how much interest there would be though..

Not from me since I currently have 2 revision 4 models and 1 revision 5. Might be some interest if it is cheap enough.

I'm not modding the n64 just the cable, as I cba with RBG from what ive seen it isnt that much better then svideo, but the svideo needs some capasitors in the leads or so i read.

Letting you know i found a 7101 in a Turok 2 cart, now i already painted a normal grey cart black and added a label :p so i now have a full OEM black plastic case left over screws included, anyone that i can make happy with that (for a small fee)
Desolderd it with my trusty gastorch and resolderd it into the ED64 and it works like a charm, im quite happy with it and i also orderd one of the new SNES carts! Since SNES > N64
