Awesome :P
Also, an msx1 to msx2 upgrade, its only sound and video? I have 1 spare msx wich im willing to "upgrade" some new stuff into.
(Actually I removed some mod the previous owner did.)
By the way, Aswesome build you have. Lets give msx some new life on these boards. :D

The "victim" was an Phillips VG8020 (which is actually an Kyocera made japanese Computer which was re-badged and sold by Phillips of Netherlands) where I replaced the old TMS9929 (first I changed it to NTSC since I live on a 60hz country by replacing it with a TMS9928) with a V9938 and changing the system roms. I also put 1MB of memory mapper on it using Hitachi Pseudo SRAMs I salvaged from some corroded/deteriorated/weathered Virtual Racing arcade board I got from a friend.

I saw these when I was in Brasilia and the wiring is an art in it's self. I would hate to have to repair one... Next time I will see it working...
The MSX does need more love as the MSX 2 was a fantastic machine.

I can't say I care much about the MSX, nice work though.
I like the sound of the OPL4, too bad no PC games are supporting it...

Finding a broken solder joint with a multimeter gotta be FUN.

It's actually simpler than what you'd think it is like. All you need is memorize the pinout of the TTL chips you're using and have a good view of how the circuit works.
The chips on that board are mostly connected in parallel like if they were in a piggy back.
That board is a slot expander. It takes two 8 bit registers it implement and apply redirections to 4 fields of memory based on the contents of the said registers.

MSX will always have a place in my heart.
I grew up playing gradius, kings valley, penguin adventure, and all the great msx games.
Currently I have a msx1 and a spare gradius 2 cart to mod and user for scc sound cart.

Penguin Adventure really stood out for me, brilliant game. Loved the Goonies, Road Fighter and F1 Spirit too!!!

I would run a OS like UZI180 I had a Master System and all 3 CPCs in varying conditions and dreamed combining them into a MSX .
Nice msx-warez! :)L_Oliviera:I and I think many more would be happy if you had any schematics / info about those pieces of homebrew hardware.. I know some is available online, but not all, I think. Code asm:Well, I think you actually need RTC for true MSX2 standard,. Also, for msxdos 2.2x you need >= 128 k ram (not a part of the standard tho, but a verry nice upgrade :)
