I've never, ever seen this before, and it does seem it came from the factory like this. I managed to get a mint in box Lylatwars + Rumble Pack with bags and everything, so I'm guessing it was hell looked after. So that's what makes me think it's from the factory and I doubt that the seller would of put this on there.
Out of every game I own, this is a first. Know what the deal is? Oo

Looks like an anti-theft strip to me.

Like the ones that make the store go "beep" ones? The position of them is a little weird though...

Weird, the US version certainly didn't have that.

I used to have a super mario 64 cart with the same stuff on the back i thought some sort of label was removed from it

That black tape is a metal strip. It's an aniti theft strip for shops. Nothing special at all I'm afraid.

Yes. Whatever you do, DON'T try and remove them with your fingers.

the sellers description was not very good it should of mentioned that the cartridge and rumblepak had a security label or sticker on them but really alot of ebay sellers don't list stuff like this because they want the highest possible price for there listings

How would I remove them then? Do they cut you or something?

Because if you try to peel them it's likely the little metal strips will slide in between your finger and fingernail, not exactly a great feeling..try prying a knife underneath.

Thanks for the tip, I'll do that :)

They tried to hide them by putting them the way they are, so that the (unlikely) thief wouldn't notice them.

What is this thread doing in "Rare and Obscure" lol?

I thought it was Nintendo's doing...
